NOT EDITEDLets get right into it
It was the next day, the weather seeming to be on the fine line of not being too sunny but, also not being the coldest snap we've had. Yesterdays weather was definitely not ideal.
Classes breezed by and like usual, lunch time had come 'n gone. The pelt up anticipation to go to my favorite class, was finally eased. Considering the weeks I've had, today had been a good day. I think it was mostly because of how things wen't yesterday.
Seeing Mr.Gardner really enjoy his time with me at the cafe is what was on my mind for the rest of the afternoon. He seemed a lot happier, a lot less anxiety filled with the idea of us being around each other and the possibility of getting caught.
Another thing that had crossed my mind later that night was, if that little lunch was... a date. Again, I am confused on where we stand. He never said it was a date, and it didn't feel like one while we were there but, after I thought about it, my mind wen't into overdrive on if it was and I just somehow missed it at the time. We aren't official- or so I think. No one said anything about being in a relationship so I had figured we were just doing what we were doing and seeing where it took us. God I sound like a mess, this situation is completely out of order.
I figured that if I just let things go as they are, I will soon see how we end up. From how he made me feel yesterday, I didn't want any of this to end. He made me so happy, I'm not one to really go out and be a social butterfly but, his stories of Italy, his experience with life in general had me wanting to go to all these places with him. I wanted to hear his stories, see how happy he'd get when reminiscing about the past. What I'd do to travel the streets of Italy with this man.
After a quick walk down the schools halls, I found myself exiting the building and at the door of his classroom. Seeing that there was no note on the door today really put a smile on my face. All I wanted was to be able to sit in his class and have a normal day today. Listen intently as he teaches a lesson. Completely lost in his words as I daydream.
When I opened the door to the class, some students already sat waiting for the lesson to start. It wasn't a large class so you could say majority of the class was already here.
I mindlessly strolled to my regular seat and placed my things down. I took one last check at the time on my phone before shutting it off and placing it in my bag. When I looked up from being in my own world, I was completely shocked to see Mr. Gardner sitting at his desk already. He had his reading glasses snug on his face as he leaned close to the screen reading something. And may I add, his outfit today was a shock as well.
He wore a Navy blue pullover sweater with a white dress shirt underneath. Its white collared neck peeking out at the top, showing the layers he wore. On top of that, he wore a darker grey blazer and his regular pair of dark pants. The outfit almost gave him a younger look. Besides the slight visibility of the graying hairs by his temples.
The way he graciously typed away at his keyboard and had a small smirk on his lips indicated he was in a good mood. It was a little bit of a rare sight to see Mr.Gardner so lively at his work. Usually when not teaching a lesson, he'd be stuck in the corner of his desk, marking away at his papers.
Just as he typed a couple more words, class had started. He stood up and said "Good Afternoon" to everyone. He scanned the room to see everyone's faces and stopped at mine. When he looked at me, he shot his eyes down and messed with his footing. He was acting like a giddy little boy and I couldn't for the life of me tell why.
"I do have a lesson planned out for today but, I'd like to take a moment to discuss with you all a special opportunity we have."
Everyone looked around silently to one another. No one had a damn clue on where he was going with this. This semester had been a very dry one. Nothing new and exciting, just work within work... oh ya! and more work!
