Chapter Four – Love

Warning – Abuse/abusive relationship

•••

You stumble as Kai pushes you into an unknown room, the force of his push making you trip over your own feet and tumble onto a bed. In a normal setting, you would have looked around the room and took in your surroundings, but all you could do at this moment was lock eyes with your boyfriend.

Your eyes warily watched his every action as he moved around the room. Your arms were still mutated together leaving you defenseless. Completely, and utterly weak and at his mercy.

"I told you to stay out of the basement, but you didn't listen."

You bite down on your lip, unsure of how to reply to him. This wasn't the version of Kai you were accustomed to. You had no idea what was going to trigger him or not. You didn't know what would please him, or what could set him off on a rampage.

"Tch. Leave all your fight in the basement?"

It wasn't like you could exactly fight when he took away your arms and your little sister. He had all the wild cards, and you were left with a poorly dealt hand.

Kai had the upper hand with Eri and you locked up away from each other. You had no idea if she was currently being experimented on, or if she was currently resting. You didn't know her whereabouts, or what Kai was capable of doing to her.

If you set him off in the smallest way for all you knew he would go take it out on Eri. You were on thin ice with this version of Kai, thin ice you couldn't afford to break or crack. For the sake of Eri, you sit quietly and played nice. For the sake of Eri, you silently sit and try your best not to upset him.

You quietly sat there, careful and quiet. Completely, defenseless and at his disposal. You take a minute to think over your words before you let them flow out.

"I don't want to fight, Kai. Unmutate my arms and we can talk civilly."

"I'm not dumb, princess. The second I unmutate your arms, you're gonna bolt out the door. or you'll try to take a swing at me and fight. Let's be honest, do you really think that you can take me?"

"I just want to talk. I promise."

Your reply came out fast and you were positive he could hear the desperation in your voice. You sounded pathetic begging him to stay and talk to you.

Kai pulled a chair to the front of the bed and sat in front of you. You glared into his gold eyes, your own [Eye Color] eyes brimming with hatred.

"You can talk with mutated arms."

"Why are you experimenting on Eri."

"She's my cure."

Again with the cure talk? What did the world need to be cured of? It's not like there was a pandemic or anything going around. It's not like everyone was confined to their homes, and being forced into a self-quarantine. What could he possibly cure the world of?

"The cure to what? What is so important that you had to cut open my little sister?!"

Your voice had an edge to it. You tried to bite your tongue back but failed to do so. The more you talked, the angrier you got. You tried to remind yourself that you needed to be meek and quiet for Eri's sake, but after knowing what he did to Eri, you couldn't stop yourself.

"If only we could just go back to when you first arrived. You were so innocent and pure. You listened and obeyed my every word, you never questioned me before."

"It's not healthy to be in a relationship where you're not allowed to ask questions. I don't want to be in a relationship where I'm not allowed to have an independent thought."

"You want to just leave me? I'm the only one whos ever loved you!"

Kai abruptly stood up from the chair, the quick rough motion knocking it over backward. His golden orbs looked wide and full of hurt.

"I've done all of this for you! You wanted to be a hero but were not allowed to being quirkless. Your own mother didn't want you for being quirkless, she loved your sister more. She loved your sister more until she took away your father with her quirk."

Your glare softened as the tears gathered at your eyes. What he said was truthful. You never truly felt that your mother loved you, she always favored Eri over you, and no matter how much you told yourself it wasn't true, you knew deep down that it was because of your quirklessness.

"You were placed in a cruel, uncaring world that set you up for failure and hurt because you don't have a quirk. Think how much easier it would be if everyone was more like you?"

"You can't just change the DNA makeup of everyone in the world."

"Don't you see? I'm going to cure the world for you."

The tears dribbled down your cheeks, leaving salty streaks on their way. The more he talked the more you wanted to cry. Maybe he was right, maybe he was the only one who would ever love you, he was, after all, doing this all for you.

Maybe he was right, but Eri was your sister and you couldn't just forget that. You weren't your mother, you weren't going to just turn your back on family. You loved Eri and that was exactly why you couldn't let him hurt Eri.

"I don't want you to cure anyone if it means you hurt my sister."

"Don't you love me? I've done all this for you, for us."

Kai cups your cheeks with his hands as he smiled down at you softly. He fixed your mutated skin. You felt your arms become separate and you moved your hands over his that cupped your cheeks.

It felt so normal, so loveling. You closed your eyes and relished in the domestic moment. His soft, cold hands on top of yours felt good. The smell of his moisturizer so close to your nose felt refreshing. It felt like your Kai was in your arms again. Even after all he had done, you would always love him.

"I do love you! I love you so much, but you can't do this, it's inhumane."

Kai yanked his hands away from your body, and your eyes snapped open. You once again observed that dangerous glint in his eyes, that murderous intent. Kai swung his hand at your face, the back of his hand hitting your cheek and making you fell to the side.

"If you loved me, then you wouldn't tell me to stop."

Tears drizzled down your cheek, falling over your fresh hit. It stung, and hurt more when your tears hit it. You were pretty sure he cut you. The fact that he did it in the first place brought more tears.

Kai knelt by your weeping figure on the floor. His hands slowly came up to your cheeks and wiped the falling tears away. His thumb skimmed over your swollen cheek.

"I'm sorry, but I had to teach you a lesson. They've ruined you, society ruined you. You used to be loyal and faithful to me, but now I'm not sure if you even love me."

You sniffled and as he kept wiping away your tears. Your eyes watched the ground, too ashamed and scared to look him in the eyes.

"I'm sorry."

"It's okay, princess. It's okay, you'll learn to love me again. You'll learn to love me properly."
