We're on the right side of rock bottom

And I hope that we keep falling

We're on the good side of bad karma'Cause we keep on coming back for more

When I woke up, the first thing I noticed was the missing warmth beside me

When I woke up, the first thing I noticed was the missing warmth beside me. His phone was on the bedside table, so he must have gone for a run. I took a shower and got ready for the day. I wore a sweater dress that stopped mid-thigh and my new knee-high suede boots. When I reached downstairs, the cafe shutters were already open, so I entered from the front door.

Jennifer was sitting on a chair alone.

"Morning, Jen. What's going on?" I asked, hoping she'd notice my new look.

"They're inside," she said, her eyes wide with disbelief.

"Who's inside?" I asked, a sense of dread settling in my bones, fearing that Liam had done something. Footsteps sounded from the kitchen.

"Let me go wake Arianna..." Axel was saying, but he stopped abruptly when he saw me. His eyes lingered on me, trying to undress me with his gaze. I bit my lip to torture him, but then I noticed his state.

"Oh my God! What happened?" I gasped, shaking myself out of my haze. Axel and Ranveer were covered in flour, wearing just their track pants and powder-pink aprons with Jenny's and my names on them. They looked like a dream.

"We decided to cook. For the past few days, we've been behaving like schmucks. You two have been cooking while we do work stuff. So, it's our way to apologize," they said sheepishly. Jennifer and I sighed in contentment. It was a thoughtful gesture. They placed breakfast on the table and pulled out chairs to sit.

"Ahh ahhh ahhh, not so fast. First, you clean the havoc you've created in the pantry. Then you can eat," I said, and Jennifer nodded in agreement. They started whining and blaming each other for the mess. Jenny and I focused on the food, happy because we managed to cool things down.

Two Days Later

Mr. Finley came to see me. It had been a week since I'd seen him. His dark circles were more prominent now; he had lost a lot of weight and looked older than his age.

"She's not doing well, Arianna. I'm scared," he rasped, taking his glasses off and rubbing his eyes. Mr. Finley was a tough man, and to hear him admit he was scared spoke volumes.

"I wish I could do something to make you feel better," I said, my voice quivering. With shaky hands, I gave him his favorite cappuccino. Mrs. Finley's condition was worsening.
