It was break time. I was having my usual chicken sandwiches which I got from the canteen. It's not the best sandwiches I ever had, but it is the only best food available in the canteen, well at least it is the best for me.
I was hogging my first sandwich and suddenly Dr. Brown and April arrived at my table. Doctor Brown had to take another chair while April took the second chair present near my table.
"Hello Dr. Eric, how are you?", said April.
I grinned after hearing her calling me a Doctor, then I replied to her that I was fine.
"Hey Eric" , said Dr. Brown after finding a chair to join us.
"Hi Doctor", I said.
"Listen Eric, I think I will be needing your pass for today, so before you leave give it to me okay?", he said.
"Oh ok, but why may I know?" , I asked.
"We have got two weeks for submitting the device, but I do want to check if it is safe. I had invited Dr. Sundar Kumar for checking, he keeps telling me it is not necessary, but I can't be calm if I don't check it. So if you please would lend me your pass for today before you leave after your work, that would be thankful.", said Dr. Brown.
"Absolutely yes, I will give you my pass before I leave.", I replied.
"So today you won't be available?", asked April.
"Yes I won't be, I have to check it, I am sorry dear.", said Dr.Brown.
"That's okay, you had been with me every year, this one day without you won't hurt me.", said April.
"I know you love to be alone because you get the time to spend with Eric.", said Dr. Brown.
"What? Haha ya but today is something special too.", said April.
"What is it? Your anniversary being together?", asked Dr.Brown.
"No dad, come here let me whisper in your ears", said April.
Dr. Brown leaned over to hear April's whisper, while I was busy finishing up my first sandwich and was kind of confused with what was going on with Dr. Brown and Dr. April.
After hearing April's whisper, he just asked for apology to her for not being present in this day, and April forgives him and says that he had been present on this particular day since every year and just this one day without him won't be a problem for her.
"Dr. Eric, listen up, today you are coming out with me okay", said April.
"What, okay? Where?"
"Dr. Eric", grinned Dr. Brown," Everything is fine, you can hang out with each other today, well you both can hang out with each other alone everyday. I give you both the permission to hang out together."
"Wow dad, what happened all of a sudden giving us permission to hang out?", asked April.
"Well I guess I am beginning to like Mr. Eric, or should I say Dr. Eric", said Dr. Brown laughing.
"I am not a doctor, please stop making fun of me"
"Come on man, we are just kidding", said April.
"I know it, I just simply said it."
"Ya right, I know you were getting annoyed ", said April.
"Ok you both love birds talk to each other, I am starving, I am going to buy something here, what do you want to eat April?", said Dr. Brown.
"Um, I will take what he took dad, also buy some Pepsi or 7up if you can for me please", said April.
Dr. Brown left both of us so he could buy the food, and in that time April has invited me to meet her up today evening by 6 at Pizza Hut in the Central Mall. I tried to ask her what is so special today that her dad was not able to make it today and she woudn't say what it is. 'Maybe it is her birthday' was what was running on my mind. I even tried to ask her if it is her birthday, but she would say it is not her birthday and wouldn't tell me what is so special today.
