My philosophy teacher wanted us to define wisdom in our own words. He also wanted to write about a person that we consider wise and explain why.

We all have a life's purpose, the only way to fulfill it, is by ascending into the greatest, highest version of ourselves. In order to achieve that ultimate goal, we must go through all of the experiences and obstacles that life has to offer. A person obtains more knowledge with each lesson. Once they reach the realization that the journey won't be as smooth and pleasant as they thought, but rather difficult and complicated for them to grow as a person. They began to strive for improvement within themselves. Sharing this insight with others makes them wise.
My mother is a prime example of a wise being. Her sagacity is something that I really admire. Throughout the years, she has passed her mental and spiritual wisdom down to me. She helped me see the duality of life—how simultaneously ugly and beautiful it is. She taught me about the importance of staying strong and having faith even through hard times. She taught me how powerful my thoughts and words truly are. The fact that I can manifest anything into existence just by speaking and believing it with the law of attraction. Because of her, I know how to use crystals, herbs, and prayers to heal and raise my vibrations. She also taught me self-awareness and how to learn from my mistakes by approaching new situations differently with thinking before doing. My mother always says that "life is the teacher and we're the students. We never stop learning after we graduate school, we only continue."
One of the reasons why I consider my mom a wise person, is because she has had so many trials and tribulations that she managed to overcome. These harsh experiences stimulated personal growth. The fact that she can acknowledge her mistakes and learn from them also shows how wise she is. Her wise decision to share them with me in hopes for me not to repeat them also shows why she is.
A few weeks ago, when I was feeling down about a close friendship that had abruptly ended, my mother was there for me. She shared her encouraging words of wisdom. "Friends come and go all of the time Ayanna. People come into your life for a reason, season, and to teach you a great lesson. You come out of the friendship with awareness that wasn't present before. You use that knowledge to improve yourself and relationships with others in the future." She proceeded to tell me stories about the toxic friendships that she had and why it was best for her to let those people go. Once she did, she recognized her self-worth and began to set healthy boundaries with people which led her to better friends. My mother constantly reminding me of all the things that I should be grateful for when I am in a gloomy state, is another example of why she is so wise. She makes me appreciate life more and inspires me to make my dreams a reality while I am still here. "Life is too short so why waste that precious time being miserable. Always remember in the bad times that there will be good times. Be thankful that you got through them and are able to live to see another day," she always says.
In conclusion, my mother is the person I turn to for guidance, because she has dealt with similar experiences that made her stronger, braver, and wiser.
