You woke up with a hard thump. Reaching your hand to your head, trying to recollect yourself, you heard pained groans and discomforted shifting coming from the sleeping Jotaro. Straining to see in the dark, you flickered on your phone's camera. He cringed in distress, a tear slipping down the side of his cheek.
"What the hell is happening," You spoke aloud, but quiet as to not disturb him. You didn't know what to do- should you wake him up? Text Kakyoin? No; you definitely couldn't text Kakyoin. It was 4:35am on a school night. There's no way he'd still be up. Could you really disturb Holly, either? Was she aware that Jotaro had night terrors? Concern and adrenaline rushed through your body, you bit your lip nervously trying to come to a conclusion on how to act.
Finally, you pulled yourself together and tightly gripped Jotaro's shoulders, whisper-screaming in attempts to wake him up. You felt his strong grip on your arms, his grip tightening as he came to. He was sweating profusely, tears still pricking the corners of his eyes.
"Jotaro? Are you OK?"
You didn't want to be intrusive, but he heard the way your voice was laced with concern.
His voice was shaky when he spoke, but he gave a weak, "I'm fine."
You sat beside him and flickered on the nearest light. He looked so vulnerable- he never usually expressed emotions. The stoic face he hid behind was scared and boyish. No attempt at hiding his feelings could support his "I'm fine" statement.
You instinctively wrapped him in a hug, trying your best to comfort him. His hands simply stayed planted on the couch, the cushions in a death grip.
"Do you wanna talk about it?"
He shook his head, trying to find where to begin. "Ever since Egypt- I'll have these nightmares. It feels too real. I have these flashbacks where Kakyoin was almost killed...It seems like time just freezes and I can't do anything to help him."
You nodded, tears stinging your eyes as you thought about the gruesome battle and Kakyoin not being here today. It seemed so far to grasp, but Jotaro had to live that reality.
"I'm sorry." He muttered quietly, running a hand through his messily-spiked hair.
"Does Holly know about these...nightmares?" You inquired, trying not to be overly pushy.
He glared at you, his features softening.
"She can't know about it. No matter what."
You nodded in understanding, figuring that Holly didn't know about the deaths and how risky of a situation Jotaro and his friends had gotten into.
You began to pace back and force, distracted and mindfucked by all this information, trying to get it to process.
"Jesus Christ Jotaro, I'm so sorry.." You sighed.
He followed you with his aquamarine eyes, "Its fine. You being here to...comfort me." He cringed as he spoke the words, "I-it makes me feel better- having someone here." He stumbled over the words, thinking of how he wanted to express his gratitude.
"Well," You sighed, plopping un-gracefully on the couch beside him.
The time seemed to drag awfully slow, but you and Jotaro sat in your signature comfortable silence- simply just enjoying the company of having one another around.
"You need me to do anything? I can make some tea, or..."
He sighed, turning on the TV. "We can watch a movie?"
You nodded, eager to change the dreary mood. Settling on some RomCom, you flicked on a tea kettle so you could enjoy your Hallmark movie with warmth. Jotaro grabbed a few blankets, setting them on the couch.
