Chapter Nine

I woke up to silence. It’s like the world was dead, and I was the only one on earth. I got up and pulled on my robe, it was freezing. I walked into the kitchen knowing my brother would have bags of coffee everywhere. I opened the cabinet to find it where I thought it would be. I fixed me a cup of coffee, and went and sat on the couch. I was finally relaxed knowing I was close to finding him. I felt my phone which I had put in my robe go off. I pulled it out reading that I got a text from my mom. Oh no, she’s going to not like I’m all the way in California, and she didn’t know till she read the note. I opened the message scared of what it had to say.

Mom:

I got your note, and you could have asked I’m sure I would have agreed to letting you see your brother. You could have just asked me. I already called your brother and we got everything straightened out already. Have fun.

Love, Mom

That was not at all what I expected. I was shocked. Was my mom really realizing I was ready to get a little freedom after all these years? This was very brand new to me.

I got up and got dress, it was time to go look for Travis. First place to look is the hospital. I pulled on a pair of pants and a flannel tank top. I pulled on a black pair of toms. I didn’t feel like working hard on what I decided to wear. I did fix my hair good though. My hair was naturally straight, which was a advantage. I grabbed my bag, and headed out the front door. The warm air meeting my body. I searched the nearest hospital in the area on my phone, and two popped up. Southeast California Regional Hospital, and California John Austin Hospital . The closest one was SCRH (Southeast California Regional Hospital) That’s where I had to start my search. I took my brother’s car which he mentioned that I could borrow when he was not going to use it for the day. I grabbed his keys off the hook, and started my way to his car.

The GPS which was programmed into my phone. It took me over ten minutes to find the hospital, after getting lost for five minutes. It was suppose to take me five minutes to get there, but I got lost on the way. I pulled up to a huge hospital. It was like a mansion but a hospital. I parked, and walked up to the office door. Finding the door unlocked. I walked up to the desk.

“Do you have a Concord listed in this hospital?” I asked crossing my fingers behind my back.

“We don’t, but we can check online at other hospital lists for the person,” She said typing behind the counter.

“you should check the California John Austin Hospital, He has recently been checked in there for over three months,” She said happy she found the answer to my question.

“Thanks,” I said walking out of the hospital smiling big. I had one more clue to were they were.

I arrived at the next hospital where he was. It took me over twenty minutes to arrive. I walked quickly to the double doors, that automatically opened as I stepped through. The first thing I noticed was a big bouquet of flowers all ordered to one room. They all said in In loving memory of John Concord. His dad had already died. Now how was I going to explain everything when his dad has just died.

I walked to the desk, and asked the lady if she knew the address of the Concord’s resident.

“Yes mam, are you a relative?” She asked knowing if I wasn’t a relative I would not receive the address. So I lied.

“Yes, I’m his cousin I traveled all the way from Georgia and I have to deliver something personally to his house,” I said putting a sad expression on my face for feel. She soon gave me his address and everything. I was set to go.
