Today was Amy's birthday. She was going to turn six.
Everyone gathered in our home and were helping to put up the decoration and getting ready to surprise her.
She was in school now and would return home in some time. I couldn't stop grinning. I was so excited to surprise her.
She was going to bring her friends after school was over. The team was helping put up the balloons and streamers.
"yo dude. This soooo chill man. We gonna go wild or WHAAAt. Let's all go crazy crazy today man. Like woo woo crazy crazy! "Eric said doing a weird looking pose that he prbably thought was cool.
"No alcohol in front of Amy''. I put in sternly.
"I seriously don't get how you understand half of what he says" Miranda said laughing.
"Pssst.... Hey she is on her way now. Just got off the bus." Our watchdog... I mean Charles informed us.
"Quick! Close the lights and hide." Lavinia said excitedly.
The door opened and we held our breaths. I could hear my heart beating in excitement.
"Hewwo.. A.. Anyone home?" Amy sounded nervous as she entered the dark dark house.
"Now" I whispered.
The FBI agent at my signal quitely moved behind Amy... Silently like a snake without making a noise and lifted her up in the air.
The lights turned on and we all yelled "Surprise!" as we bursted the party poopers.
"Uwaaahh" Amy said surprised and then started giggling happily when she saw it was Samantha.
"Put mee down... Down... Down" she said laughing.
"Put you down? Neveeeeer. Muhahaha" Samantha said evilly.
"Daaaaddwy save mee" she exclaimed playing along.
I slowly sneaked behind Samantha and ticked her. While she got distracted I took Amy in my arms and started running.
"Hey there sweetie. How was school today?" Lavinia asked.
"We lwernt lotsa thwings. Do you know we lwernt addwition."
"ohh. Addition what is that?"
"Is it a scary monster?"
"oh no the horror of maths... The HORROR... THE HORROR!"
"yo so rad little dude. My lil angel's all grown up now. Learning all sorta hard stuff like that"
We all played along.
She giggled happily. Her soft laughter was like a sunshine that filled us with joy.
"no siwwy... You gotta awd stuff wike that on your fingwers." she said and started teaching us how to add on our fingers.
"woooooow... Didn't know that stuff duuude"
"soo cool sweetie."
"how informative. That would be really helpful."
"you are a genius!"
We all pretended that we had learnt something new.
The bell rang and her friends joined us.
The party was really fun and I successfully managed to thwart Eric's singing attempts.
We played games and Juliet almost ended up breaking a vase (don't ask).
She got gifts from all of us which included a teddy bear, barbie doll, puzzle set, a cute bracelet, a pencil with pink feathers and uhh... Some weird stuff like a book on the art of persuasion and mind control, another book on The Pluralistic theory of sovereignty, a picture of Eric with a rap written with his autograph in the back, nunchucks, a fake skull and shark teeth necklace and a vodoo doll that definitely looked haunted.
Those were definitely not suitable for children or dangerous.
After the party ended and her friends left, we were all really exhausted except for Amy who still had even more energy.
Must be the sugar rush...
She was jumping on the sofa.
"No jumping on the sofa" I called out trying to stop her.
"buuut.. It weally weally fun... Come hweeere n jump wid me." she said happily.
I couldn't say no to those adorable large eyes... So I also started jumping with her on the sofa.
"What are you two doing? Lavinia asked smiling.
I froze.
" jumpwing on the sofa... Daddwy wanted to jwump too." Amy said happily.
" ohh.. Is that so hmm?" Lavinia asked still smiling.
I felt a shudder run up my back.
I needed to find a distraction.
"uhhh... Eric had a nice little song for us." As soon as the words left my mouth, I regretted it.
Oh no. This is bad.
"ohhh... Ya dude n dudess ess I gotaa cool lil rap for u all folks." Eric said beaming.
"yaaaay uncwle ewic gwanna swing fow us." Amy yelled jumping in joy.
Amy was the only one who liked Eric's raps for some reason. She thought they were funny.
Hmmm... I was getting slightly concerned now for her future considering her taste in music.
I suddenly got a bad feeling... Something was definitely wrong...
I ignored the feeling and shrugged it off as me just being paranoid...
"yo yo yo six in da mix like a choco loco mix. Big mac got no macs in the party for da six. Amy turning bold while the macs getting old n old party with da six woo hoo" he sang off key.
I really needed bleach to wipe away the cringe in my ears.
Also I was not getting old. I mock glared at him.
"Use this. It helps." Janet said offering me some duck tape. Don't ask how she got that.
I grinned ferally.
"Restrain him" I ordered evilly.
Before the target knew what was happening, he was tackled to the ground and restrained with duck tapes by a bunch of buff and tough and highly experienced FBI agents.
Eric didn't stand a chance against us. We ignored him as he protested vehemently against people's lack of appreciation for good raps."
We forgot all our worries and fears as we enjoyed and bickered among ourselves.
If only we had been more alert and cautious back then, we would have noticed the figure watching us from the window.
If only I knew back then... Then none of it would have happened.
I would later end up later regretting my carelessness on this day.
If only I knew back then... Then...
