My heart was racing as we stepped off the plane. The 3 hour flight from New York felt like an eternity. As I was practically swimming in my own thoughts, I hadn't yet registered we were actually here. I was in Miami!

"Are you excited to see the new house?" asked dad.

"I sure am!" I replied.

We waited outside the exit of the airport for what felt like hours until our taxi finally arrived to take us to our new home. The drive from the airport wasn't too long, plus we got to drive by the sea! I've always loved the sea. The salty air blowing through my frizzy blonde hair was one of my favourite feelings. The warm sand going between my toes as I took off my white sandals and ran to the shore.

I didn't realise how long I was thinking about it until I felt the car come to a sudden stop. As I looked outside, my eyes came to meet a pastel blue front door. I immediately ran out the car to admire my new home. It was beautiful.

"You like it?" said dad.

"I love it! It's amazing" I replied.

I twisted the golden door handle and the door swung open to reveal a beach-y styled interior.

"Your bedroom is on the top floor! You should have a view of the sea from up there." shouted dad from the car.

After hearing that, I bolted upstairs, hearing the wooden staircases creak under my tiny feet. The whole house radiated an amazing energy and I couldn't help but smile.

Finally, I had arrived at my bedroom door. I gasped as I looked around the room. I had a lilac window seat that I could see the beach from, and a queen bed with sheets to match the cushions at the window. There were old, whitewashed floorboards with a fluffy, plush white rug placed on top. The room looked so sporadic yet so neatly organised at the same time. I heard a few floorboards creaking downstairs, so I knew dad had walked in.

"Dad, can I go down to the beach? I'll be back at 6"

"Sure sweetheart. Don't forget your sandals!" he said.

"I won't" I replied.

And with that, I ran out
the door.

I woke up to the sound of my beeping alarm clock which I turned off with a groan and put my head back on my pillow. Great. It's the first day of school. I put on my robe and slippers and ran downstairs. My nose was immediately invaded with the sweet scent of maple syrup and blueberries.

"Breakfast is read- Oh! You're awake! Ready for your first day?" asked dad.

I groaned even at the thought of it.

"Eh, I guess"

"Oh come on, it's not that bad! I'm sure you'll make loads of new friends."

Oh yeah. Friends. Those people you trust and talk to a lot but most of the time turn out to be fake.

"I hope so."

Before I could feel any worse, my dad places a neat stack of pancakes drizzled with maple syrup with 3 blueberries placed delicately on top.

I finish the pancakes in minutes and head back up stairs to change and get ready. Once I was ready, I said bye to my dad and prepared to face the day.

"can anybody tell me what Shakespeare is trying to tell us in this line?" asked Ms. Cornway.

"that English is a boring subject and shouldn't need to be taught in schools?" replied someone behind me.

"How could someone talk like that to a teacher?" I silently mumbled to myself

"what was that Angel face?" said the voice.

Before he could say anymore, the bell rang and we were dismissed

"hey, wait Angel face!" he shouted.

I stopped and stood by a locker.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Ryan Monroe. And you are..?"
