The next week was the same. I struggled waking up, had an amazing breakfast, lunch with Penny and Aracelis and then it happened.

"Meet me by the back of the school at 2:45, okay?" said Ryan.

Why was Ryan Monroe talking to me at lunch, and why was he trying to make me meet up with him?

"No thanks. I can walk home by mys-"

"No negotiations Sweet Cheeks. You. Back of the school. 2:45." he interrupted with the corner of his mouth curling up.

God, why does he have to be so annoying? I watched him walk out the canteen, getting loads of stares. But one pair of eyes was one I wasn't expecting.

"Penny? What are you doing staring that douche bag down?" I said, a bit too loudly.

She quickly looked away and ate her sandwich more.

"What do you mean? I'm just eating my lunch!" she said, her cheeks turning a vivid shade of red.

For the rest of the day, Aracelis and I teased Penny about her 'crush'. But then, fifth period's bell went and, sooner than I wished, it was 2:45. I walked round to the back of the school where I nearly got lost. After a few minutes of turning the wrong corners, I saw Ryan, Liam and three other people all wearing black leather jackets with a blue ace on the back.

Liam and the other three all got onto different bikes. I at least could tell one of them was a Harley Davidson from my own past. When I was 13 I remember my dad taking me out on his cherry red Harley Davidson and we'd never had more fun. But then when we got home, my mother got pissed and started yelling at us. That was the first time she hit me. Then it got worse and worse to the point where I couldn't take it anymore, so my dad planned to move here: Miami.

The rumbling from Ryan's car engine startled me and stopped my memories from flooding through like a tidal wave.

"Are you coming?" he asked.

"Where are we going?"

"It's not that far away." he replied.

"That doesn't answer my question." I shrugged it off anyway

Thats one of the worst things about this place. Nobody seems to want to answer your questions. They avoid them at all costs like their lives depend on it. I get in anyway and think to myself 'what's the worst that can happen?'

We pull up outside an alley and everyone stops. We're in downtown Miami and the sun just began to set. It's swirling with loads of different shades of pinks and oranges and I can't help but tilt my head back and stare in awe.

One of the other guys pulls out a black duffel bag and whatever he put in there started clinking. It's clear Liam saw that I was a bit freaked out, because he walked over to me and put an arm on my shoulder. It's weird how he's so friendly to me compared to the others. We jump over a few fences and finally get to where our 'destination' is. A blank wall. Ryan went over to the duffel bag and pulls out a few cans of paint. He can't be serious.

"I'm not about to vandalise a building, you know!" I shouted.

I started to walk back to his car as if I'd find a way to drive it home, but I felt someone's strong grasp on my neck. But how? I was a while away from the others and I could still hear their cans of spray paint. That's when I knew whoever was behind me wasn't part of their group. It was someone else.

I tried to cry and scream for help but no sound came out. I immediately get a flashback of when my mother attempted to strangle me and it's not making this any better. Hot tears start streaming down my cheeks, My lungs feel like they're shrinking and I can't breathe, My heart is beating a thousand times a minute in my chest. Why can't anybody hear me? But that's when I felt the grip around my neck loosen. I fall to the floor, weak and limp.

After a few minutes, I gained consciousness again. But I'm lying in the back of someone's car. I start panicking but then I see it's only Ryan driving. 'was that all a dream?' I thought to myself. That was crazy. I start feeling tired and shut my eyes.

I wake up in my queen sized bed, staring out of the window at the ocean, the waves crashing and rolling in and out. How am I home? The last thing I remember was Ryan driving me home and me shutting my eyes. Did he drive me? At least I'm safe. I rub my eyes and sit up. I decide to tiptoe downstairs and walk down to the beach where i'll feel more calm. I closed my eyes and breathed in the salty air, feeling it flowing through my hair. That's when I notice someone sat next to me. It's one of the other guys from Ryan's group.

"Hi. Sorry to invade your personal space. I'm Jayden." he said.

I couldn't help but notice his ocean eyes. They look like whirlpools of emotion and swirling with different shades of sea blue. And his hair. It looked so fluffy and golden.

"Aria.. have you ever noticed how stunning you are? Your eyes are the perfect shade of bottle green."

"th-thank you. Nobody's ever told me that before. Have you-"

Halfway through my sentence, I stopped. He was staring at my lips. Then, in a heartbeat his lips brushed against mine.
