Peter

Peter returned to the compound the next day to continue working on his web formula and train with Mr. Stark. After joining the Avengers, Mr. Stark had been testing his abilities almost non-stop to see what Peter could do and to improve his skills. Since they had begun training, Peter could think faster, shoot webs farther, calculate ideal routes quicker, and analyze situations easier. His parkour was becoming more and more impressive and effective. Even his "spidey-sense" was more attuned and accurate, which was good since Peter relied on it heavily to warn him of incoming danger.

His suit was getting upgrades, too. Peter had finally taken the time to go through the entire manual and familiarize himself with each of the suit's functions and web combinations. His webs were stronger and stretchier. He'd learned how to reinstall the parachute, activate the heater, and send an SOS directly to Mr. Stark in the case of an emergency.

A few times, he'd walked into Mr. Stark's lab to see him hastily close a file or shove something in a drawer or under a tarp. Curiosity was begging him to find out what Mr. Stark was hiding from him, but he managed to restrain himself. Mr. Stark had never kept something from him without reason, and he trusted that he would find out soon enough. It was obviously related to Peter since Mr. Stark wouldn't let him see it, but Peter had no idea what it could be.

"Ready to go again, kid?" Mr. Stark called to Peter from the side of the training room.

Peter was in the middle of the room surrounded by destroyed robots after completing a simulation Mr. Stark had designed. Peter was a bit out of breath, but otherwise unharmed—and he'd beat his last time. He was just about to tell Mr. Stark to run it again when Rhodey opened the door and poked his head in.

"Tony, Peter? We've got visitors." Rhodey said.

Mr. Stark frowned, walking towards Rhodey. "Who?"

"It's Fury," Rhodey provided, "and some lady."

Mr. Stark's frown deepened. "Keep your mask on, Pete," he instructed.

Peter nodded, tugging his mask lower and following Rhodey and Mr. Stark out of the training room. They made their way to the conference room where they were joined by Clint Barton—who had finished off his house arrest, signed the Sokovia Accords, and stopped by the compound every once in a while—and Vision, who tended to do his own thing unless Mr. Stark ordered him to be somewhere. Among them were two new faces.

The dark-skinned man with the eyepatch and black trenchcoat smiled when he saw them. "Stark. Colonel Rhodes. It's been a while."

As they exchanged greetings, Peter's attention was focused on the other stranger in the room, who seemed equally fascinated by him. She had blonde hair that fell to her shoulders and was wearing what could most accurately be described as a red, blue, and gold laser tag suit, covered by a brown leather jacket. She had been talking to Nick Fury, Clint, and Vision, but when Peter, Mr. Stark, and Rhodey walked in, she stopped and stared at them. Her dark eyes wouldn't let go of Peter, who wanted to hide under their gaze.

"Who are they?" She asked Fury.

"Carol, this is Tony Stark and James Rhodes. Stark, Rhodes, this is Carol Danvers." Fury introduced. "The spider-dude I have not officially met yet, but I hear he calls himself Spider-Man."

Peter waved shyly. "Yeah, I—I'm Spider-Man."

"Got a name, Spider-Man?" Fury said in a mocking tone.

Peter glanced at Mr. Stark, searching for approval. "Can she be trusted?" Mr. Stark queried, folding his arms.

"She's with me, isn't she?" Fury scoffed. The woman, Carol, smiled innocently by his side.
