Warning: hints of abuse and some implied rape
3rd person
Legolas was a young elfling, joyful and kind, and deserved the world, But abuse he had gotten from an elf servant called Demdaer was far from how the young prince should have been treated. You see, legolas' mother had died, and because Legolas reminded his father, thranduil, so much of his wife, he could not bare to look at his son. Because of this, Demdaer was to take care of legolas, while the king grieved for a mere 55 years.
Demdaer hated thranduil, for he was in love with his now dead wife, and the servant took all of his anger out on legolas in secret. Instead of taking care of the princeling, he would beat him, torture him, have his way with him, and them throw him back into his room, threatening him in horrid ways if he would ever say a word o about this to anyone. Legolas has been scarred from this and the memories haunted him daily. The horrible elf would blame legolas for his mothers death, tell him he was worthless and should have died instead, and even said that this was the reason his father never came to visit. Legolas, being only a young elfling, believed his cruel words.
Demdaer left about 30 years later for reasons unknown to the young prince, but he knew that he couldn't mention any of this to anyone, not even his family, for In legolas' mind, he thought that his father and brother would be ashamed if he ever found out. They would see how weak he was, letting this horrible creature torture him like this without fighting back, so he hid the bruises, the cuts, the blood, and the scars, both on the inside and out. He never came out of his room, unless it was to sit in the nature, which calmed him down. He had a special spot, far enough out from the kingdom of Mirkwood so that no one would find him. It was a tall, wide tree, with big branches and beautiful green leaves covering them.
Legolas loved nature. He loved the way it made him feel. He could be in it without feeling judged, and he could just relax. He would sit in the branches during the day time, he would write his thoughts and dreams, mostly nightmares, down, sing songs, and draw his surroundings. After many years of his father ignoring him, and having to spend the long hours with his torturer, Demdaer, this was the only place to get away from all of his emotions and just be himself. Every so often, he would talk to the trees, listening to their stories and sharing his own, but after a while, there was nothing more that the trees had to said, well, nothing that Legolas had not heard already.
Thranduil, after many years, finally had finished grieving, for the most part, and was ready to open up to his son, but it was too late, for the elfling had already gotten used to life without a father. The only father figure he had was Demdaer, who had abused and tortured him for hours everyday, telling him false information that, Legolas, being young and gullible, believed. Of course, thranduil did not know this, and just thought his son hated him. He made many attempts to get close to his son, but the young elf prince preferred to be alone. The king felt bad, he felt as if he was a terrible father, and that he had spent so long in his own dark thoughts, causing him to lose his son for good. This was far from legolas' intentions, for the only reason he wished to be away from his father was because he thought he would be ashamed of him.
Maethon, legolas' brother, got more attention from thranduil, for he was older, being alive before the death of his mother, and had features that did not resemble her. He found it easier to be around him because of this, and spent the hours not grieving, being with him. Legolas felt alone, and preferred it that way. He could trust no one. He never talked, never came to meals, instead he spent time in the woods, writing down his thoughts, his traumatic memories, and plans to run away. He was depressed. He blamed himself for everything, his mothers death, his father avoiding him, and all that the cruel servant had put in his mind. Each day, he would either sit out in the woods, or he would lock himself in his bed chamber. He wouldn't dare see anyone, especially his father, for every time he would think about the y'all blonde king, he would think about how disappointed he would be if he found out how weak his son was.
