The drawings became more frequent after that day. It became normal to wake up with half-finished drawings on his arms or legs or even torso, waiting for him to draw the wheels on the car, or the lightbulb in the ceiling of a room, or the ears to a very fluffy-looking teddy bear. It was a little overwhelming at first, Seungmin had to admit, but he liked it. Maybe a little too much, but dammit it's his soulmate; he doesn't care how weird he might be to an outsider.
He soon found how he could ask his soulmate questions. Although not in the usual way with actual words, but he could crappily draw a picture and put a question mark beside it, which wouldn't disappear after a second. His soulmate would answer the question with excellently replicated emojis or a doodle. It was definitely confusing at times and would require both parties to draw and re-draw multiple times before there was something of an answer there. From Seungmin's understanding, his soulmate was a guy, was still in school, was also in South Korea, and liked sushi. It wasn't much, nowhere near enough for Seungmin to go and try and find his soulmate, but it was okay for now.
"He's a guy," Seungmin told Ryujin after he found out.
"Who's a guy?" Ryujin was shoveling spaghetti in her mouth, the pair over at her house to hang out. And 'hanging out' meant 'eating spaghetti' to Ryujin.
"My soulmate." Seungmin was unable to stop the cheesy smile spreading on his face and he lowered his head subconsciously.
Ryujin gasped before promptly beginning to choke on her spaghetti and needed Seungmin to slap her back hard enough for her to cough up a lung.
"How do you know?" She asked after catching her breath. "Have you seen him?"
Seungmin shook his head and began to tell her about their means of communication and what he knew of the other already.
"Huh. If I had known forcing you to draw would have resulted in all this, I would've drawn on you before."
Seungmin rolled his eyes, but he really was grateful that Ryujin pushed him so hard to interact with his soulmate.
However, he didn't expect to meet his soulmate much sooner than anticipated.
It was assembly day, which meant that Seungmin and Ryujin were able to spend extra time with each other and do anything but listen to what their principal had to say. The duo sat at the very back of the gymnasium, as the principal had poor eyesight, no matter how much he tried to hide it behind his colored contacts. He was rambling on about how students were breaking rules, such as drawing on themselves during class, and how "unprofessional" it was. Seungmin always wore his blazer so he wouldn't be caught by a teacher.
"Dude needs to retire," Ryujin commented as she pulled out a marker and began to do the exact thing he was telling her not to do. "I bet you he can't even see two meters in front of him."
"Two meters is too gracious. Try two centimeters."
Ryujin snorted into her arm. "Who's he fooling with his dyed hair?"
"I think it's a toupee."
"No way."
Seungmin gestured at his forehead. "Look at the way it sits on his head."
Ryujin was squinting as she leaned forward before erupting into a muffled fit of laughter and earning curious looks from nearby students.
Seungmin was too busy unsuccessfully willing away his own laughter and trying to calm Ryujin so she didn't get reprimanded that he didn't initially notice another person sitting on his other side. It wasn't until he got a whiff of...guy (he couldn't describe the scent) that he looked over and seen another male making himself comfortable on the wooden floor. It was hard not to stare, since Seungmin felt like he seen the guy somewhere before. He couldn't put his finger on it, but he wondered why the guy sat beside him since he could've easily sat anywhere else in the entire gym.
He gave the guy quick glances while Ryujin was on the verge of suffocating since apparently a toupee was the funniest thing in the world to her. The stranger didn't seem to notice, or was pretending not to. Seungmin knew he wasn't the most subtle guy in the world.
"Is there something on my face?"
Seungmin was too caught up with staring at the guy's face that he didn't notice that he was 1) staring at the guy, and 2) the guy was speaking to him. He whipped his head around to face the front, cheeks aflame. When did he start staring? How could he not have noticed?
He mumbled an apology and focused on his clasped hands in his lap. It was fortunate that a part of his soulmate's drawing peeked out from under the sleeve of his uniform, a yellow sunflower. His soulmate's pictures were so colorful and vibrant. His mind was bright and artistic. Seungmin wondered if his soulmate wanted to be an artist in the future, or if it was just a hobby.
Seungmin brushed a thumb over a petal, but didn't miss the slight movement of the guy's head beside him. He quickly pulled his sleeve down, in case that the guy would tell a teacher on him. When they were all sent back to class a few minutes later, he couldn't stop touching his wrist, even when the petal faded away.
so i had no idea how to end the chapter and that's why it took so long, yee!
