She was tucked into him. Both of them comfortable. His arm pulled her closer as his hand drew lazy, nonsense patterns. He took a deep breath, her presence calming the constant storm of her mind.

Her voice ebbed and flowed against the shores of his mind. The comforting words eroding the cliffs that plunged deep into the darkness that called his soul.

You can't save her. You can't save them all.

The whispers, the shadows...

"Did you hear a word I said?"

Ben blinked.

"I'm sorry."

You chuckled, burying your nose into his shoulder. "You're always a galaxy away."

Ben kissed the top of your head, eyes drifting closed.
