Dragonrider (the powers of the unknown series part 1)

Chapter 8

The next day I hadn't any time to think back about the visit from Ferdinand. I was way too excited. Today would be the day we would get our dragons. Only dragonriders who already had gotten a dragon knew how it goes. It is a secret for the outside world and later today I would get to know that secret.

Time skip to breakfast

When everyone was in the cafeteria one of the teachers stood up. 'hello everyone' he said. 'I hope all of you are well rested and full of energy because you will need it.' 'Would everyone who doesn't have a dragon yet please follow me.' After he said that he stood up and walked away. I quickly got up and began to follow him. I noticed that there were only a few others who stood up. And for some reason most of them looked nervous. Suddenly I noticed a familiar face under the others who stood up. It was Deborah Ann. I walked towards her. I noticed that it looked like everyone tried to avoid her. It even looked like some people were staring at me while I walked towards her. 'why do you think everyone is so nervous about this' I asked her. 'don't tell me that you never heard even one rumor about this event' she answered. 'I lived a pretty sheltered life so far.' 'mhm, that could explain it' she said. 'but you don't need to freak out or something, as far as I know it are only rumors they heard, none of them are confirmed by the organization behind this.' 'so I at least don't really worry about it.' 'at least not yet' she said.

Time skip to somewhere deep into the forest

After some time the man finally stopped walking. We where in an open clearing. There we all got a tracker. They told us that it is for when someone gets lost or something. They tried to reassure us that that didn't happen that often but you could notice that most people didn't believe that. They told us that we were supposed to just walk deeper into the forest and that faith would lead us to our dragon. After that they told us that we could go to find our dragon.

I didn't know how long I already walked and how far, but I walked deep enough into the forest to not see the sky anymore. Everywhere around me it was extremely dark. Suddenly it was like something wasn't right. But I didn't know what. I felt a sharp pain. And then I passed out.

POV Naloë Gargascof

It was a couple of hours ago that the tracker of Mia had sent a emergency signal. We were nearing the place where her tracker gave it's last signal. Suddenly I smelled the metallic scent of blood. The send became stronger while we neared our destination. When we arrived I immediately saw that something was wrong. The others couldn't see anything here but because of my vampire senses I had a pretty clear view of my surroundings. It looked like someone burned the ground, but somehow managed to not burn the surrounding trees and bushes. But you could almost not see the ground. It was mostly covered by blood. I kneeled down next to one of the places where the blood looked like it was the freshest. I decided that because this was an emergency this would be a good time to use one of my secret abilities. One of these abilities was the ability to tasting from who blood originated. I took a little bit of the blood and immediately the information came. This was the blood of Mia, but the taste of her blood was pretty faint. There was also blood of something else in it. It was blood of something that I hoped to never taste again. One of the things I feared the most.

I immediately need to announce this to the headmaster. When it is really going to start the headmaster must know it as soon as possible. In the meantime the others started to get pretty nervous because I hadn't said anything for a couple minutes. I sensed there fear. That in combination of that I just tastes blood made me hungry but I knew I first needed to let them go back to the school and more importantly tell my new information to the headmaster before I could go on a hunt. I turned to the others and said they could already go back to the school. And that I could work better when they would leave me alone.

After a couple minutes I felt safe enough to send the headmaster a mental message about what I discovered. I gave him all the information I got from the blood. After that I searched for some blood.

There was only one thing that no one noticed. It was a pair of eyes observing the scene from the shadows. Sadly for Naloë the person was hidden by a strong black magic spell. A spell even she couldn't break. The person stayed observing her until she left. When she left the mysterious spy headed back to it's masters.

??? POV

The lonely figure in the shadows saw everything from the beginning. Ofcourse the figure would. It was it's own plan. Sadly it didn't work quit well. Her other sides are coming earlier and faster then we thought. Luckily I still have some other plans and my little buddy still managed to get some of her blood. I just hope it is enough. I will need to announce this to the masters as soon as possible. I hope that her blood is good enough to not get punished for this fail.

The moment the figure left, Mia came back to consciousness multiple kilometers deeper into the forest.

Mia POV

When I came back to consciousness again I noticed that I wasn't at the same place as before, but for some reason I didn't feel any fear. It was more like I felt safe. Like I knew that where I was at the moment was a safe place.

I also noticed that I was completely covered in blood for some reason, but I didn't feel any pain. When I searched for any wounds I noticed that I only had one small wound on my right shoulder.

I didn't know how it was possible but it looked like the trees and bushes here were even closer to each other then where I left consciousness. It was completely silent all around me. I could also just barely see something of my surroundings. Suddenly there was light. And when I turned around to find the source of it I saw...
