*Daniel's POV*

The boys and I got the groceries out of the car and brought them into the kitchen then we went to the lounge room, and Corbyn immediately tripped over a pile of dolls.

Toys were everywhere. Zach and Stella were sitting on the floor. Stella had a makeup kit and was clumsily painting his fingernails with hot pink nail polish.

"Dude...." Jack said, laughing. Zach looked at us and shrugged with a half smile.

"What? She's cute!" He said. Stella tapped him on the head with a hairbrush and handed it to him. He blew on his hands for a few seconds then started to comb Stella's hair. Then he picked up a hair tie and plaited it.

He stood up then noticed us all staring. "I have a little sister too, you know!" He said defensively.

I rolled my eyes. "Where are the girls?" I asked.

"Grace went to visit her mum, and Ali is upstairs." He said.

The boys all went and sat down. We turned on the tv and started watching a movie.

Half an hour later, Stella fell asleep across Jack and Zach's Laps. They looked at each other and shrugged. I stood up and scooped her up. "I'll take her up." I whispered.

The boys nodded and turned back to the tv.

I walked up the stairs, singing softly to her. I put her in bed and tucked her in.

As I was walking back to the stairs, I heard a noise. I walked closer.

I stopped at Ali's room and listened. She was crying. I could hear music in the background. She was streaming Hard and singing along quietly.

"I know I said I'll be your friend, but it's too hard. Hard, it's just too hard. Said I'll be there to the end, but it's to hard. Hard, it's just too hard." She whispered to herself and started crying again.

I heard my voice come through the speaker, but only briefly because she turned the song off. I heard her sit down and lean against the door.

I turned around and went downstairs.
