Ashton Irwin's pov

I tap three times on her front door and take a deep breath as I wait for her to answer.
It started to rain as I walked to Bella's house and I'm so cold and wet, but I did it for her.
When she does finally answer the door, she doesn't open it fully, just far enough for her face to be seen. I think both of our eyes go wide when we see each other. She stares at me, I stare at her.
Her cheeks are stained with tears and her make-up is smudged all over her face.
"Bella..."
She sniffs and shakes her head, opening the door a little more.
"Don't Ashton" she whispers.
The rain continues to fall, harder now but I don't care, even if it is ruining my hair and rolling down my back.
"I'm sorry"
"Don't be sorry, it wasn't your fault, I told you everyone hates me" she says.
"Stop thinking like that! Just stop it okay! I li-whats that!" I point to her arm. Since being home she has put some pink sweat pants on, a plain white t-shirt and her pink dressing gown over the top. Red stains circle the bottom of her sleeve, "is that blood?" I ask and take a step closer to her. She tries to shut the door on my face but I push past her. She holds the bottom of her sleeves.
"Why are you even here? Shouldn't you be with your girlfriend? She might get jealous and take it out on me if your here" she snaps backing away from me.
"She's not my girlfriends anymore" I sigh.
"What?"
"I broke up with her" I shove my hands in my pockets and stand there awkwardly.
"You what? Why?" She looks panicked but there is a very small smile tattooed on her face.
"Because I didn't like the way she was treating you and anyways as Luke said, we haven't been right lately"
"Oh my god" is all she manages to say.
"I know...." I trail off.
"Well, I don't mean to be rude but you need to go, I'm going to bed now" she looks at the door then back to me.
"Well, thats the things you see..." I begin and she narrows her eyes at me, "Jess doesn't want me to go back home, she said I'm not welcome so I was wondering if I could stay here for a little while?" I say and bite my lip.
She rolls her eyes.
"Oh for gods sake Ashton!"
"I'm sorry, it will just be a week, until I find my own place, you wont even know I'm here! I'll pay some of the bills and I'll do the food shopping, please Bella" I practically beg her but she just starts laughing.
"Of course you can stay, you idiot, you know your welcome here anytime" she steps forwards, her mood suddenly changing, and pulls me into a hug. We stand in each other's arms for about a minute or so and then she backs away.
"Right, I'm actually going to bed now, goodnight Ashton" she says before heading down the hallway to her bedroom.
I stand there awkwardly, not really knowing where to go.
"Um, where am I sleeping?" I ask her and she turns around.
"Oh right, umm, you know where the sofa is" she smiles then continues to walk to her bedroom.
I shake my head at her but then make my way into her small, yet cosy, lounge. I pick up the red and green chequered blanket that is hanging on the back of the sofa and strip down to just my boxers and my t-shirt. After turning the lights out I climb onto the sofa and get comfy. I roll onto my side and pick up my phone.
4 missed calls.
11 new text messages.
3 voice mails.
I sigh and start to make my way through them all.
Most of the text and one of the calls were from Luke asking what happened. I texted him quickly saying I would ring him in the morning and he said okay. The others were from Jess. The first call was her sobbing and begging for my forgiveness. The second was her friend Amber calling to say how much of a 'dick' I was and how I never deserved Jess and that if I new what was good for me I would apologies to her and beg for her forgiveness, instead of the other way round bla bla bla. The third was Jess saying that Amber was right and she wasn't going to take my 'shit' anymore, which is funny because in my eyes I haven't actually given her any 'shit' and all I've done is ended a relationship that wasn't working out. Then I got a message from her saying she will bring some stuff over tomorrow as I left my car at the party and she takes it I'm at Bella's as thats the only place I spend my time these says.
I sigh again and decide to deal with it in the morning. Right now all I need is some good sleep.
I lock my phone and roll over onto my other side then slowly drift to sleep.

A familiar noise echoes throughout the house. A defining scream that can only belong to one girl.
Bella.
I quickly get up and look up at the clock.
12:14am.
I run through the house as she shouts and screams.
"Josh stop please! Just leave me alone! Just stop all this"
I run into her room and flick on the light switch. Her body shakes ever so slightly and her head rolls from side to side. She suddenly sits up and yells my name then opens her eyes. Beams of sweat run down her face and she jumps slightly when she sees me.
We stare at each other for a few seconds, her chest rising up and down as she tried to steady her breathing.
"Bella..."
She starts to cry. Not just a little tear running down her face, she cries like she's upset about something-like someone's died. I walk over to her and sit on the edge of her bed, wrapping my arms around her.
"Bella your scaring me now" I whisper into her hair.
When she first told me about her nightmares I didn't think much of it, but now I've seen and heard her have two, I'm starting to get slightly worried.
I sit and wait until her hysterical crying turns into silent sobs.
"You okay now?" I ask. She nods then looks up at me.
"I-I think its time I should tell you about it..."
This time I nod.
"What do you mean 'it'?" She looks down at her hands, "go head, you know you can tell me anything yeah?" I shuffle a little so I'm facing her and I take both of her hands in mine.
"Okay, but you've got to understand that only" she stops and counts on her fingers like a small child, "only three people in this whole entire world knows what exactly happened on that day" she says.
"What day?" I question.
She takes a deep breath and looks away from me for a second.
"The day my best friend was murdered"
My mouth falls open and I don't say anything.
"It all started on the night of my sixteenth birthday..."
