"I'm sorry" it was the first thing he said to me as he opened the door, and in his eyes I knew he meant it
"We still need to talk. One apology isn't enough" I knew it was rude, and slightly unfair, since I had let Keefe off with only a couple 'sorry"s
"I figured, and it's well deserved" he sighed as he let me in, and I walked straight to the couch. I sat and patted the spot next to me, inviting him to sit.
"You're an absolute ass" I said simply, and the emotionless tone that I had surprised even me.
"Yeah, yeah I am. Its none of my business who you date, I'm sorry. It's just hard for me since-" he cut himself off, his teal eyes breaking contact with mine as he quickly looked away
"Since you like me" it was more of a question, me still testing the waters of truth with the words. They felt wrong in my mouth, like when you're on anesthetics and your tongue feels large and out of place. A flicker of shock flitted across his face as he looked back at me
"Yeah" he said, tugging on his dark hair. It was silent for a long beat, before he spoke once again "I hope that isn't like... weird. I know it's probably too much to ask, but I'm wondering... is there a chance? Like, could you ever feel the same?" His eyes shone with hope, and his back subconsciously straightened slightly
"I'm sorry, but no. I'm.. my heart lies elsewhere" this time I'm the once to break eye contact. I hear him mutter Keefe's name, a scowl appearing on his face. I suppress a eye roll
"No, it's Valin actually" I say
"That weird kid who still has braces? The kid who constantly drools and it's totally in love with you? That Valin?" He asked me
"Yes, we're hopelessly in love" I bat my eyelashes, looking off with a dreamy expression
"You're mean, I hope you realize that" he spits, almost like an angry cat
"What do you mean, mean?" I asked him defensively
"You play with people's hearts. I like, really like you, and here you are making a joke about another kid who's in love with you" he says, his eyes portraying a million emotions at once
"I'm sorry. I guess...." I've been hanging out with Keefe too much I finish in my head. I don't say it, knowing how it'll sound. Instead I clamped my mouth shut and tugged on my eyelashes. We sat in silence for a while, both of us looking anywhere but each other
"So, we good?" He asked, sticking his hand out for a truce
"For now, but if you're an asshole to my boyfriend again, I get to punch you" I said, taking his hand
"Only if I get to make fun of you guys for being all mushy and annoying" he tells me
"Only if I get to make fun of you and your future girlfriend!" I add
"Deal" he agreed, shaking one more time to finalize it. One of the things I hate and love about Fitz is his ability to get over things. He has a lot of anger issues, and yells a lot, but for small things he lets them go pretty easily. Bigger things are harder, like his brother, but he works on them. After a couple more minutes, I leave, happy and with a little more weight lifted off my shoulders.

"Keefe!" I squeal as he pulls me close, surprised as he grabbed me from behind.
"Foster!" He impersonates my tone, teasing me. He kisses me softly, and even though we've been a couple for months I can never get over the spark I feel when we kiss. The rest of the group looked at us, obviously annoyed
"Cmon, we're gonna be late!" Biana urges us "no time for making out!" She keeps walking
"Like you wouldn't love to kiss Dex right now" I roll my eyes as the group rushes to keep up with her. I see her blush, and I grin
"Don't bring my relationship into this" she scolded me, glancing at Dex
"Besides, its just Stupid football game. Foster is way better" Keefe pipes up, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. I blush
"No offense Sophie, but no ones that great. It's the biggest game of the year for our school, and it's against our rivals, so it's even better" Dex says
"Hey!" Biana looks at him "what about you're amazing girlfriend?" She asks
"You're so amazing that you're not even in the same league, so it's hard to compare" he stopped and kissed her on the nose which I have decided is their "thing". It's weird, who likes getting kissed on the nose? Fitz gags beside me
"Oh god, all this mushy relationship stuff is so gross!" He complains
"Oh come on, just because you haven't found the right one doesn't mean you can bag on us" I tell him, smiling up as Keefe. He gags again
"Like I said, gross!" He says. We all laugh, and continue on, chatting. I thought
about it, and I realized, This year really turned my life upside down.
