Emily's POV
I was checking the new design of the hotel rooms. There were some nuisances which I should discuss with Cody, but he was in Rome now. So I grabbed my phone and called him. After calling for awhile, he finally picked up.
"Yeah...." He said huskily as he picked up.
"Hi, Cody. How are you?" I asked.
"Emily...Hey...Yes...Fine..." He responded, panting. "You?"
"Fine. Are you running?" I asked, puzzled.
"Me?...Oh...Umm...Yeah." He mumbled hoarsely. "Fuck..." He groaned.
"Cody, are you okay?" I asked, worried. His voice was strange.
"Yeah...I...am...fine...Emily..." He mumbled and stopped, groaning. "Shit!...Emily, I will call you later." He said hurriedly and hung up without waiting for me to say anything.
I looked at my phone, puzzled. What was going on? Did anything happen to him? No, probably, he was working out. I sighed and placed my phone on my desk.
***
Today Cody and I had a meeting with a publicity agent at the restaurant. He came back from Italy yesterday.
Cody was going to pick me up, so we could go together. I grabbed my bag and left my office as Cody informed me that he was waiting for me in front of the company.
When I left the building, I saw Cody leaning against his black Bugatti. He looked devilishly handsome in his navy blue suit. I shook my head to get rid of these thoughts and approached him. He gave me a charming smile as he straightened and opened the door for me.
"Hi. Did you miss me?" He said, giving me a cocky smirk.
"Hey. Yes, so much." I replied sarcastically, rolling my eyes and got into the car. He closed the door for me and rushed towards the driver side. He got in the car and started it after giving me his signature smirk. I shook my head without managing to hold my smile.
He parked his car in front of the restaurant and got out of the car. He rushed towards my side and opened the door for me.
Wow! When did he decide to become a gentleman?
I gave him a smile and got out of the car as I said. "Thanks."
He gave me a bright grin and led us towards the entrance, placing his hand on my back.
As soon as the publicity agent saw us, she stood up and gave Cody a wide grin, mesmerized by him. I gritted my teeth in annoyance.
"Mr. Sullivan, nice to meet you." She said cheerfully as she extended her hand towards Cody, ignoring me. "I am Silvia Martinez. Your publicity agent. I look forward to working with you." She introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you, Ms. Martinez." Cody shook her hand, giving her his charming smile.
I frowned, annoyed and cleared my throat.
"Umm...Nice to meet you, Ms. Morgan." She greeted me as she finally managed to take her eyes off the blue-eyed handsome jerk.
"Nice to meet you." I mumbled. "Let's start the meeting. We don't have so much time." I stated firmly and sat down, ignoring Cody's amused expression.
Asshole!
After the meeting, we left the restaurant. I felt so annoyed with Cody and Silvia. They had been flirting till the meeting ended. It was unprofessional of her. But Cody was delighted with the situation. His signature smirk was plastered on his face during the meeting.
Ugh! I hate him.
I stopped walking and turned towards him, squeezing the strap of my bag angrily. He gave me a confused look.
"Keep your personal and professional life separate, please." I warned him firmly.
He raised his eyebrow, looking into my eyes and asked arrogantly. "Don't I?"
"Do you?" I gave him a knowing look and folded my arms over my chest.
"Feisty, I couldn't do anything if our publicity agent found me attractive, and she could not resist my charm." He responded, giving me a cocky grin.
"Pff!" I gave him a mocking laugh. "Yes, your charm." I shook my head, smirking. "You are just an incorrigible playboy, nothing more." I confirmed bitterly.
"Are you jealous, Feisty?" He asked, amused, looking into my eyes.
Me? Jealous? Of course not! Why should I be jealous? I just pity those girls. Poor them!
"What?! Of course not." I snapped angrily. "And stop calling me Feisty."
He gave me an unconvinced look and winked at me, smirking. He put on his sunglasses and walked towards his car. I gritted my teeth in frustration and walked towards the car in quick steps. When he wanted to open the door for me, I quickly opened the door myself without letting him and got in the car. I gave him a dirty look and slammed the door.
"Hey, be careful with my girl!" He snapped angrily.
I furrowed my eyebrows, pursing my lips in amusement and slid down the window.
"Your girl? Really?" I asked, grinning.
He gave me a dirty look and walked towards the driver side, ignoring me. He got in the car and started the car with a grumpy expression. I couldn't hold myself and chuckled at his expression. He gave me a death glare.
"You are not good for women's hearts." I commented honestly after a few minutes of silence.
"Yes, my specialty is a different part of a woman body." He stated arrogantly, giving me a smug smirk and winked at me.
"Pervent!" I exclaimed and averted my gaze, blushing. I sighed and added in annoyance. "I have never met a man like you before."
"Thanks." He grinned.
I rolled my eyes and commented. "It wasn't a compliment."
"Oh, really? But I can prove to you that it is a compliment and change your thoughts about me." He resumed, determined. "Don't be so sure of yourself. And please, try not to fall in love with me." He added arrogantly as he parked his car in front of my company.
"I? You?" I asked mockingly and burst out laughing. I gritted my teeth, looking at him and stated. "Only in your dreams."
He smirked arrogantly as he turned his face towards me and wrapped his arms around my waist quickly, pulling me closer to him. In a flash, he smashed his lips against mine, catching me off guard.
