"Why are they coming out blurry?" I huffed, looking at the screen on my camera and frowned. Every shot I've taken of this late model race I was at tonight was not coming out. I just didn't understand it.
"You have your shutter speed set too low." A voice broke through my thoughts and when I looked up to see who was talking to me, my heart leaped out of my chest. "Here, let me fix it for you." Darrell Wallace, aka Bubba, the only driver in the Cup garage who actually catches my eye was standing in front of me, holding my camera in my hand as he adjusted the lens. "There, that should do it." He gave it back to me, winking and I still couldn't find the words to say to him. "Try it." I bit my lip, holding the camera up towards turn one, snapped a few photos and I couldn't help but feel relieved seeing a huge difference.
"Thank you, gosh, you probably think I'm an idiot."
"Nah, rookie mistake."
"That obvious, isn't it?"
"Yes, especially since I haven't seen you around. I would remember seeing a pretty girl like you." I blushed, pushing a strand of hair behind my cheek. I cannot believe he just said that!
"Yeah, I'm filling in last minute for a friend. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. I just picked up the camera a few months ago as a new hobby. I'm more comfortable in the kitchen baking cupcakes." I laughed nervously, completely stunned that Bubba was even here and speaking to me. He could be off doing his own thing but he wasn't.
"Cupcakes?"
"Yeah, I make a mean bourbon infused cupcake with bacon on top. You should come to my shop sometime!"
"How about this? I'll show ya some of my tricks and I get a few cupcakes of my choice, with extra frosting."
"You'd do that for me?"
"Anything for free cupcakes." I couldn't help but laugh and agreed to his offer. How could I say no to him when he's standing there with a huge grin on his face?Bubba took my camera from me, showing me different settings and what each one does and proceeding to take a few shots for me that came out stunning. I knew I wouldn't be able to remember everything he was showing me, but I couldn't tell him that. He was being super sweet and taking time out of his night to help a complete stranger. I could tell this was a passion for him by the way he held my camera and carefully adjusted the lens to zoom in and out.
"If it's cool, I can show ya how to edit some of these on some photography software? I can bring my laptop by your shop tomorrow?"
"Why are you so willing to do this?" The question slipped out of my mouth before I could stop it.
"I'd do anything for free cupcakes... and to get to know the pretty girl behind the apron." I bit my lip to hide my smile as Bubba edged in closer. "What do you say?" I pursed my lips, acting like I was thinking but in reality, I was just enjoying this moment.I couldn't believe he wanted to spend more time with me!
"One condition, you have to share at least one cupcake with me." It was Bubba's turn to purse his lips.
"Nahhhhh," Bubba shook his head and I gasped in shock. "I'm playing!" I hit him on his shoulder playfully and he laughed. "C'mere here you." Bubba grasped my hand, pulled me in even closer and placed a soft kiss on my lips. "Can't wait to see what tomorrow holds."**
A/N: I can't believe I just wrote about Bubba... but this idea was in my head and I thought it was super cute so why not??
