"This is your... home?!?" I laugh out.
He looks hurt for a moment and then his amusement returns."Are you honestly saying that this wretched place-"
"Indeed."
Well, it did suit him. He looked like he was a vampire or something out of a teen paranormal romance book. His hair was disheveled, black; his shirt didn't quite match that hue but were more of a charcoal-ish color; and then I looked at his feet. I stared wide-eyed for a second. Maybe his vocabulary was old but the guy definitely knew how to walk around in style. Or at least, a style. His dark navy jeans seemed to work with those black combat boots.
"But it's so dark and broken-"
"It is not broken, peasant child," he spits back, "You are merely unable to grasp the amount of beauty in this land, so all you see is ash and destruction; you see, here before you, the edge of your consciousness, the deepest, darkest, most desolate part of your own soul."
I stare at him. Did he just say I have no soul? I snort. Rude.
"I did not say you have no soul, I said this is the part of your soul that has nothing left; this is the part of you that is broken. As you grew up, it slowly grew bigger and bigger, due to human activities that harden your heart." He says, clearly annoyed.
"How... What the fuck?!?" I scream.
He looks back at me with pity, and laughs. "Guard your thoughts more carefully, Mrs. Piper Rue Carlisle. You can never be too sure who's listening."〰➰〰➰〰➰〰➰〰➰〰➰〰
"Hey, what's up man?" I hear someone say. What is this, the 90s? I open my eyes. Hm. It seems that I am free from that disgusting hospital bed!
"Not quite, Mrs. Carlisle."
Damn it, what the hell? Doesn't this guy have anything else to do than bother me?
"Dear Piper, we are merely just started. Now I know it is human nature, but come along now, stop flirting with boys."
I glare at him until it seems like I cut enough holes into his soul. Didn't this guy say he was, like, an angel or something? Don't angels have other things to do than bother sixteen year old girls?
"Come along now, I still have much to show you."
Apparently not.
