"I feel like I'm in that one story with the old guy that doesn't like anyone at Christmas time," I said.
"Will you be quiet? There are bigger issues than learning to share,"
I rolled my eyes. Well, obviously there were. Did this guy think I was illiterate or something?
We walked in silence for a while because I was not about to start a conversation i didn't want in the first place. We were in some place that was so hot it almost seemed as if my sweat was sweating. We walked farther along the dirt road. All around me were vibrant looking plants and shacks that looked like they were about to fall over by a simple kiss of the wind. The paint was pealing off of them, and there were bent nails on the verge of falling out of the unstable structure, but the shacks were still so beautiful in a way i didn't understand. They were just... comforting somehow.
Angel boy had stopped walking. I hadn't.
"Ow! What the hell man?" I said. I had been pushed back a couple feet after accidentally running into him and before I knew it, I was on my ass. He turned around and gave me a kinda 'oops, I'm gonna pretend I didn't know you were there even though I totally knew that was gonna happen' look.
I scowled at him. He needed to be slapped upside the head and then..
"What the hell is that?" I said.
He turned around.
"Oh this? It's your first assignment!" He smiled and it was like he was five again and his mom was gonna give him a cake to eat all by himself. Meanwhile, I was still on my butt looking at the thing. It looked kinda like a blanket that had chocolate sauce or Nutella all over it. Except underneath the blanket part was a swirling vortex of souls and stars. Black souls. Just like mine! Oh shit maybe this thing wanted to suck my soul!
Oh shit.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
