(Dean's POV)

"Dean!" called Castiel from the other end of the hallway.

I just wanted to stay as unnoticed as possible. Schoolwas hard enough without your everday asshole jock yelling out my name for all of the school to hear.

"Cassie!" I shouted back sarcastically.

"So, Dean," Castiel said when he got closer. "How has your first day been going so far?"

I looked down at my shoes and kicked the ground a little. It wasn't that I was shy, I just was't sociable. At all.

"Good, I guess. I don't really like Ms. Masters all that much though." I said.

Castiel smiled. "No one really does. But hey, what can you do?" he asked shrugging.

I didn't say anthing in reply, I just shrugged and continued to look down.

"So, I guess I'll see you at lunch then," Castiel said after an awkward silence.

I walked to my locker before going to lunch. All I wanted to do was get through the day unnoticed. So far, thanks to Castiel, it wasn't working so well. As I headed down to the cafeteria, I spotted a group of guys surrounding a much smaller kid. Now, I wasn't much of a big kid either, probably 5 foot 11 inches, 140 pounds, but this guy looked downright tiny. He was somewhat built for his age - I figured he was a freshman - but was really short, compared to me, I guess. The kid was on the ground and crying with his hands over his eyes.

"Hey!" I shouted running over to them. LIke I said, unnoticed right? Yeah, sure. "What's going in here?"

One of the guys turned around to face me. I might add that he was quite large and burly looking. "What have we here?" he said in a mocking tone. "Get outta here, greenie. You don't have no business gettin' involved here."

I stood up a little straighter in order to try to match his enormity. "This kid is getting pulverized by you oversized jocks and you think I'm just going to leave?" I challenged.

The kid had now uncovered his face and was staring up at me with wide whiskey-colored eyes. The jock had apparently had enough of my shit and tried to throw a punch. I caught at his fist - which broke my hand, I think - and drove my knee into his groin. The other two jocks started for me and I leaped out of the way, pushing one onto his face in the process. The one who I had not shoved into the ground was beginning to regain his balance and came after me again. I kicked out with my leg and tripped him, fell over, and drove my elbow into his back, knocking him out. After I was sure I was finished with the jocks, I held out a hand to the boy still on the ground.

When he looked up at me, there was a mixture of wonder and fear showing in his eyes. "First of all," he started. "Are you Batman?"

"I'm Batman, yes, totally," I responed with a laugh and a ruffle to his shaggy hair.

"Second," he continued as though he hadn't heard my remark. "Who are you and where did you learn that from?"

I held out my hand for him to shake, and he gladly took it and shook it vigorously. "I'm Dean," I said pulling my hand away. "And, I've had to fight my share of battles in my lifetime. Who might you be?"

"I'm Gabriel. Or Gabe, if you want. I'm a freshman, but my brother is a senior. I've known those guys for about four years, and they've always hated me." he paused to pull a sucker out of his pocket. "Are you new here?"

I could forget about the sucker, but the fact that these overgrown monkeys had been beating up on this poor kid for four years? I just might have to look into this. "So," I said awkwardly. "Who's your brother?"
