"I can't do it, grandpa!"
"Of course you can, y/n!" Yelled Kuzon from the other side of the river. "You're thinking too much! Think like an earthbender! Don't think at all! Feel the earth beneath your feet and become one with it!"
You felt uncomfortable. Maybe the blindfold had something to do with that, or maybe it was the fact that you were standing next to a storming river and were expected to build a rock-bridge to meet your grandfather on the other side.
This would most likely have been no big deal did you know how to earthbend...you didn't.
You felt the ground on your bare feet. You tried to think of the earth as a part of you. It didn't work. You tried to think of yourself as a part of the earth. It didn't work. Maybe you just needed to concentrate on the environment around you. For whatever reason, you started thinking of the sun, of its power, of the way it does so much harm and yeat you need it to survive. You felt something. You wondered if the su-HOLD YOUR OSTRICH HORSES YOU FELT SOMETHING!!!
It was like a warmth coming from your chest and spreading to your fingertips. Oh shoot, are you supposed to start the dramatic air-touching now? When do you start air-touching? How has no one ever told you when you start air-touching?! Maybe now was not the best time to start questioning your decision to have your firebender grandfather teach you earthbending. The warmth got stronger. Something inside you took hold of your limbs and started moving them graciously around you, guess you didn't have to worry about the air-touching after all.
"I think I feel it, grandpa!" Oh, you felt it alright. This was it! This was your first time earthbending! Here it comes! Here it comes!
*Blast*
THERE IT WAS! You'd done it! You earth bent!!! You opened your eyes to see a perfect, stea-where is the damn bridge?
You looked over at your grandfather to find a look of utter shock splattered on his face. Oh, come on! It was your first time earthbending, how much could he expect?!
You decided to try again. Thinking of the sun, analyzing it, your limbs started moving once more, and the subtle warmth started filling you up. Maybe you just had to concentrate on the area where you wanted the bridge to be located. You felt the energy leaving your body through your hands as you directed your focus towards the river. Your knees were weak. You were definitely bending some type of earth this time. You opened your eyes.
*Blast*
Tears nearly left your eyes as a thick burst of bright fire left your hands. You looked at your grandfather. He no longer looked at you, his head was bowed low, looking down. A heavy silence filled the atmosphere until you heard the voice of Kuzon break through it.
"Well, I've waited 78 long years to say this, so I guess now's my chance." He fire-blasted himself over to your side of the river. He pulled out his hand for you to shake it. You did.
"Flameo, hotman!"

Thank you so much you precious rats for reading my first work on wattpad. Honestly I never thought I'd have the guts to do this but I atla is the kind of story that just makes you want to introduce yourself into it.
I won't say if y/n ends up with Sokka or Zuko because I genuinely don't know! I guess we'll see how the story evolves, until then.
Over and out, AJ.
