Chapter 2: Time Together

3 months later...

An explosion echoed through the forest. Shade was launched to a tree. He looked up. Sapphire was walking closer to him. He got up and launched a Shadow ball at her. She dodged it and ran towards him. She tried to hit him with an Ice Fang. He dodged and kicked her feet. She fell and he tried to follow with a Dark pulse. She rolled to avoid it. She then got up and used an ice beam. It hit Shade.

Sapphire: Now I got you!

She then charged at him. Shade quickly broke out and grabbed her. He pinned her on the ground. They both looked at each other.

Shade: Nowhere to run.

Suddenly, she smiled and charged a Shadow Ball.

Sapphire: Got you.

She launched it and sent Shade flying. He hit a rock. He moaned and looked up. Sapphire was over him. She then smiled and offered a hand (Or paw?)

Sapphire: Good job.

He smiled and grabbed it.

Later...

Sapphire: Thanks for training with me.

Shade: No problem.

Sapphire: I was afraid I was a bit rusty. I haven't trained in a while.

Shade: Don't you train with your brother?

Sapphire: He might be as fast as dad, but he is too predictable. He's also too lazy to train.

Shade: What about your dad?

Sapphire: Yeah. We trained a lot. We've trained together for as long as I can remember.

Shade: Really?

Sapphire: He's a bit strict though. When I was an Eevee, I wanted to be a rescuer, but he would never let me. Which is stupid because he was one of the best rescuers in history.

Shade: I know how you feel. My father banned me as well. Of course I didn't let that stop me. I still became one.

Sapphire: Really? I did the same.

Shade: No way, really?

Sapphire: Yeah. I love my dad and all, but he is pretty stupid.

Shade: Aren't all dads stupid?

Sapphire: I guess you have a point.

They both started laughing.

Sapphire: Well, I'll see you later. Let's train again tomorrow.

Shade: Got it.

Sapphire went ahead. He couldn't help but smile.

Later...

Shade went to the couch to read. When he got there, he saw Storm sleeping on it.

Shade: Now I see why she calls him lazy.

He sat down and started reading his book. Storm the yawned and got up.

Storm: What time is it?

Shade: 6.

Storm: Looks like I need to get up now. I promised Sky and Emma I would meet them in town at 6:30.

He got up and then saw Sapphire carrying some books. She was struggling.

Storm: You alright?

Sapphire: Y-yeah... I got-

She then lost her balance and dropped all the books. Shade put down his book and headed over to her.
