Chapter 6 Morning Run

TOM’S POV

We stayed at Julia’s house for dinner and it was less awkward than lunch. Kathy was keeping her distance from Tony, while kept glancing at her. I wonder why but Kathy looks familiar to me, maybe I’ve seen her before.

My parents kept asking Julia questions and she answered them with confidence. I learned a lot about her, which is good I guess. 

Now I’m back at the campus and doing my morning run while thinking about the weekend. 

I was so lost in my thoughts that I bumped into someone.

“Is bumping into me your way of saying hi?”

“I’m sorry Julia, I guess it’s a habit”

“Hahaha it’s ok”

“Yeah so what are you doing so early in the morning?”

“I’m starting to do my morning run since I haven’t done it for a long time, what about you?”

“Morning run too, maybe we can do this together every morning”

“That’s a good idea, I don’t like running by myself”

We started running and damn she can run. I had to run faster so I can catch up to her. She started laughing when she saw that I was running behind her.

“You run slow” she said teasingly.

“Sure I do” I said sarcastically.

“Yup”

“Let’s race to see who runs faster”

“Ok first one to that tree wins, ready set……..GO” she ran before she said go.

“Cheater!”

I passed her and ran for the tree.

“I won, wooooh.” I said trying to catch my breath.

“Whatever, you cheated.”

“You ran before you said go, so you had extra time”

“Fine you run faster than me, let’s go get some breakfast”

“OK I’ll pay”

“No it’s my treat”

“Let’s just split it”

“OK”

She is something else. She keeps surprising me and I’m starting to like her a lot. I know my parents like her cause all they talked about was Julia when we got home and they also asked me what my opinion of her was. I don’t even know why but it doesn’t matter. 

We got to this diner and ordered food. 

“You know you fun pretty fast”

“Thanks but you’re still faster”

“Well I am a guy sooo”

She started laughing so hard and tears were coming out of her eyes.

“You’re too funny”

“Thanks”

Our food arrived and we started eating. She got some syrup on the corner of her mouth.

“You got syrup on the corner of your mouth”

She kept wiping the wrong side, so I reached out and got it for her with my thumb. I guess it was awkward cause she started blushing.

“There got it”

“Thanks”

I licked the syrup from my thumb and she’s still blushing.

“You look cute when you blush” she blushed even more.

“Thanks, we should go now”

“Yeah”

We split the bill up and left. I walked her to her dorm and gave her a hug goodbye.

“See you around”

“Mmmhmm I had a great morning with you”

“Thanks”

Then she gave me a kiss on the cheek. She closed her door and I had the biggest grin the whole day.

Tony came to me in the afternoon and he looked different.

“Hey Tom”

“Hey what’s wrong?”

“Kathy”

“What happened?”

“Do you remember her from before?”

“From before?”

“Yeah she went to high school with us”

“That’s why she looked familiar”

“Yeah and we used to be friends”

“What? When? What happened?”

“Yeah during high school but things happened”

Tony told me everything that happened and how he feels about her. I was really shocked about it. Damn I didn’t know that he’s been through all that.

“WOW. Man you need to fix things with her, since you still like her a lot.”

“I know that’s why I’m taking her out on a date and I’m making sure that she knows how I feel bout her.”

“That’s great man, I hope you and her get together, and you guys make a good couple.”

“Thanks, but ima need you help”

“Ok on what?”

“Well you have to keep hanging out with Julia so that I can spend time with Kathy to make her realize that I’m not playing around or anything.”

“I don’t have a problem with that I like Julia a lot”
