There was no going back.

So he walked into the corridor that was to lead him to his future. His closure. His father.

Izuku was feeling so much right now. He felt sad— sad that any of this had happened in the first place.

He felt angry-- angry that his dad dealt with stress the way he did and angry at all of the years that his father had missed out on in his life.

He felt anxious-- anxious that his father wouldn't accept him and that everything would have been for nothing.

He felt happy-- Happy and excited that he would finally see his father again. Happy that his father might become somebody he could lean on as a true father, with family love.

He felt so much that he couldn't describe. It was all in one and it was all piled up. He was about to see his dad.

Holy shit, he was going to see his dad-

A guard unlocked a metal door, slowly easing it open for Izuku. He flashed a sympathetic look at him, and then closed the door. Izuku turned around and looked at his father.

Hisashi Midoriya was sitting right in front of him.

He looked nothing like he used to. Though it was a faint memory now, Izuku didn't remember Hisashi looking this rugged or tired, not even when he was hungover. He looked different, and not just with his head shaved, but with his aura as a person.

"Hello, Hisashi." He wouldn't call him father, not yet.

"Hm."

Hisashi had an apathetic expression on his face as Izuku sat down.

"I Uh, came to see you, I guess. That's obvious though since I'm here-"

"Why the hell did you come?" Hisashi asked with nearly no emotion.

"What?" Izuku didn't know how to respond.

"I asked you why the hell you came here? To see me? That's not a good reason. You shouldn't be here."

"Look, I know that you probably never wanted to see me again, but I need to talk to you-"

"Damn right I never wanted to see you again!" Hisashi started shouting. He was breathing heavily and looking down. He wouldn't show Izuku his eyes.

God, he looked pathetic. A grown man lashing out after a few seconds of being exposed to his own son, the person he had hurt the most.

"I can't stand to see you! Not after what I did! Not after losing Inko!" Teardrops fell.

"That didn't take very long to get emotional," Izuku thought.

"Hisashi."

Izuku's voice was steely, hard, and slightly angry. But there was sympathy there, even if there shouldn't have been.

Izuku couldn't help being empathetic and feeling for this old man, one who had missed out on so many vital years of his life. He couldn't see him as who he used to be, and that was actually good. It meant that he wasn't the same abusive man, but it also meant he wasn't a father.

Not like he was truly a father, to begin with.

"What do you want me to do?"

Hisashi looked up, and Izuku finally saw the tears in his eyes. His eyes were glistening with his broken soul showing through his expression.

Hisashi's voice broke as he said, "I don't know."

"I'm staying whether or not you want me to, dad."
