I’m still high school but already has a boyfriend.
I sweetly replied.
Nag-iwas siya ng tingin. He shook his head after a while.
“Just… buy me Gatorade, please.”
I think ill of his cold reply earlier. He’s not that cold towards me. There’s something wrong. I know.
I strongly believe that when you are attached already to a certain person, it is hard to get out of that comfort zone you built with him or her. It will take a while even a fight could not last a day because you’ll kept finding each other. COMFORT COMES AFTER ATTACHMENT. Now do I really have to find out if he’s still smitten to me when I clearly saw his seriousness after courting me in front of my parents, giving me flowers, and no doubt showing how he cares for me in public?
Or am I fool to overthink things again?
I got back to the gym. Holding a bottle of energy drink with a heavy heart, I graced the entrance only to find out his whole clan inside.
He has never introduced me to his family. Maybe this time, the lucky parents decided to take a visit, so curious with their son’s lovelife. How can a man as handsome as him, don’t have a girlfriend? Pretty sure their mindset whirls with that.
“Hi!” I greeted, narrowing my eyes to the strangers.
“Can you excuse a bit? Just put the Gatorade on my things and take a taxi.
“Why?”
Pumikit siya ng mariin. “Just go wherever you want…kay? I’ll fetch you after this.”
“Why would you fetch that girl, Garry?” Maarteng sambit ng babaeng chinita.
Naglakad siya and the next thing I know, he’s holding on to my boyfriend’s right arm.
“What’s your obligation with this girl that would require you… to fetch her? May utang ba siya sa’yo? Oh stupid. It should be the other way around. Is that it?” Nakangiti pa ang babae.
“Shut up, Marina.” Kinalas niya ang hawak ng babae.
The lady who looked like a Senyora with her white hair came near to us, eyeing me intensely.
Ngumiti ito. But all I can see isn’t a genuine but rather a demonic smile. “So, this is your lover, huh? Garry? Better break up with her or you’re screwed. Tomorrow’s your flight to USA. Isang linggo at tuloy ang kasal. Don’t ever pull a stunt you would regret for a lifetime,” pinal niyang saad sa lalaki.
“Let’s go,” she eyed me a death glare, for the last time.
What? I stayed still the whole time even after those people left. My chest is aching though I don’t know what’s really happening. But judging those old lady’s choice of words to mutter, I bet something’s wrong. My heart shivered more with that.
