She looks at him once again with dull eyes
as he laughs from the poison in his veins.
His slurred I love you's,
His eyes filled with darkness.
She wants to smile and laugh, but she can't.
She hates this.
She feels helpless.
The drugs are the only things keeping him happy.
She can't even do that.
He looks at her and asks if she's okay.
"I'm fine," she lies.
He knows it's not the truth but he lets it go.
How can she tell him that she hates this.
How can she tell him to stop without him feeling
trapped, or controlled?
She can't.
