The Breaking

It was 2 am
the lights were off
everyone in the house was asleep
her heart had just been broken
she sat there in her room
as an ocean flowed out of her eyes
she clenched her stomach as her heart was burning
she couldn't breath
she covered her mouth with her hand
to stop the broken noises coming out as she cried
so no one would hear
when that didn't work she kept crying
she bit her pillow and let the tears keep falling
everything hurt
the person she wanted to go to the most
was the person who made her feel that way
so she sat there in pain
and cried
while her heart was breaking
and her voice was shaking
wishing that he never said goodbye.
