The Next Day

Deku's POV:
Today, I wasn't that nervous as usual but I was excited to see him. Todoroki.
"Izuku! Have a good day!" My mom said.
"Thanks mom! I love you!" I said with a smile.
"I love you too, dear! Be safe." She said as I closed the door.
Even I get a lot of love from my mother, I've always wanted to feel more loved by someone else. Otherwise, Kacchan made me feel worthless.
Even All Might told me "You will find someone, someone who will free you."
But I've always asked myself:
"Who will free me?"

Todoroki's POV:
Midoriya.
There might be more to him than what meets the eye. I could just tell from his smile and how shy he is. I've always hated myself for what happened to my mother and my father just wanted to use me to surpass All Might. Now that I'm in U.A. I'm positive I'll find hope within my heart.

At Mr. Aizawa's Class
Deku's POV:
Today we were going to do training with our quirks and we had to choose a partner. Being shy, I didn't know to pick and I didn't want to pick Kacchan.
"Hey!" A voice said behind me.
I turned as I startled and it was him. Todoroki who stood up for me.
"Do you want to be partners?" He asked.
I smiled as I nodded.
We went outside as we were training with our quirks until I got hit by Kacchan's quirk and fell with an injury.
"You got in my way, you damn nerd!" He yelled.
"Chill out! He didn't do it on purpose!"Said his partner who had red hair.
"SHUT UP YOU WEIRD HAIR!" Kacchan yelled.
"My name is Eijiro Kirishima!" He said in an angry tone.
"Don't make the wrong assumptions!" Todoroki said as he walked up to me.
I stood up as Todoroki helped me up and his arm was wrapped around my shoulder. I was getting nervous as I turned slightly red.
"Are you alright, Midoriya?" He said in a concert tone.
"Oh, I'm okay! Thank you!" I said holding my tears as I saw Kirishima walking up to us.
"Hey! I'm sorry about him!" He said.
"No, it's my fault!" I said.
"It's not your fault, Midoriya!" Todoroki said.
"Yeah, don't blame yourself just because Bakugou has issues"
"Well, thank you!" I said.
"No problem, Midoriya! I think you did a great job!" Kirishima said giving a thumbs-up as he walked away.
Even though what Todoroki and Kirishima said helped, it still hurt me.

Lunchtime
Todoroki's POV:
Midoriya, I just wanted him to know that it wasn't his fault. I believe he still might be hurting but I hope he feels better.
I stopped and stood in front of the boy's bathroom and heard a noise. It sounded like someone was crying, so I walked in and saw him. It was Midoriya crying and I knocked on his door.
"Midoriya? Are you alright?" I asked concerned.
"I don't know Todoroki!" He cried.
"Can you come out?" I asked.
He didn't ask why, he just opened the door and hugged me tight and I hugged him back hoping he would calm down.
"It'll be okay!" I smiled.
"I doubt it!" He said.
"Midoriya! Do you want to talk about it?" I asked.
"No!" He cried.
"If you need anything, just let me know! We're friends right?" I said.
"Yes... yes we are!" He said.
I wiped his tears as we walked together. As we were walking, I looked at him and to me, he seemed special.
"Hey, you two!" A cheerful voice said.
"Oh, hello!" Midoriya said.
"You must be the one Bakugou bullied. Are you okay?" She asked.
"I'm better now!" He said.
"Well me and my friends were thinking... why don't you two come to sit us at lunch!" She said.
"Oh, that would be great! Thanks!" Midoriya replied with a smile.
"Come Todoroki!" He said as he grabbed my hand.
I didn't say anything but I turned red at that moment and went along because I didn't want Midoriya to get hurt.
"Oh, I'm Ochako Uraraka!" She said.
"I'm Izuku Midoriya! And this Shoto Todoroki!" He said.
"Nice to meet y'all! Come my table is this way!"
Uraraka said pointing at the table.
"So guys! I invited two people to sit with us! I hope that's okay!"
"No problem! The more the merrier!" Said a guy with glasses.
"I'm Tenya Iida!" He said.
"Hi! I'm Mina Ashido!' Another girl said cheerfully.
"Tsuyu Asui! But call me Tsu!" Said Tsu.
A lot more people introduced themselves as Midoriya began to smile. I smiled as well, it just seemed like he was happy for the first time.

After School
Deku's POV:
Today was so much better than yesterday, even though I had a mental breakdown, Todoroki made it a lot better. I couldn't thank him enough and I just felt happy for the first time. At that moment, when he hugged me, I felt so safe.

Todoroki's POV:
I was glad that Midoriya had a better day and that we were friends. I don't think Midoriya has ever had any friends, I guess he's just like me.
I saw him walking by himself, so I walked up to him and gently tap his shoulder.
"Oh, hi Todoroki!" He said.
"Hello Midoriya!" I said.
"I thought I could ask if I could walk you home!" I said confidently.
He shrugged and smiled.
"Yes, of course!" He smiled.
His house wasn't far from mine when we got there.
"Thanks, Todoroki! I don't know how to thank you" He said.
"You don't have to! This is the least I could do." I smiled.
He smiled back as we said goodbye.

Deku's POV:
Todoroki was a very nice guy and I honestly don't know how to thank him for helping me.
"How was your day, Izuku!" My mom asked.
"Pretty good, mom!" I said.
"I'm so glad, dear! I'll be making dinner!" She said.
"Mom!" I said.
"Yes Izuku?" She responded.
"I'm sorry!" I cried as I hugged her.
"What do you mean, dear!" She hugged back.
"I never told you this but for all these years I've been suffering from depression." I cried.
"Oh, my baby! Don't be sorry, sometimes we're always scared to tell someone, but you know you can always tell me!" She smiled.
"Really?" I asked.
"Anytime, dear! I'm just glad you've been happy lately!" She smiled.
"Thanks, mom!" I smiled.

With Todoroki:
"Hey, what's with the smile, Todoroki?" Fuyumi asked.
"You're not usually like this." She said.
"Well, things are going well!" I said.
"Can you tell me?" She asked.
"Not for now!" I said.
"Well that's okay! I'm glad you're happy!" She said.
"Midoriya." I thought.
