Two nights had passed. Two fucking nights and this shit was still going on.
Tuesday's dream had been scary as shit. He was in the forest, but he was a little kid again; a little older than he had been in Monday's dream, though. He guessed he was about 7 or 8.
Katsuki didn't remember how he'd gotten there, but he'd been playing with Izuku like he did a lot when he was younger. It was nice, at first. The sun was high in the sky, a warm summer's day, and they were running around with smiles on their faces and their giggles filling the air. Katsuki had managed to catch a small frog, which he'd shown Izuku with great pride.
Then, and Katsuki didn't remember why, Izuku ran off. He tried to chase his friend but the boy had outrun him, disappearing into a deeper part of the forest that didn't have paths. The sun seemed to go behind the clouds at that point, because it suddenly became dark and windy. Then, Izuku — monster Izuku, not cute little Izuku — came running out of fucking nowhere, charging straight at him on all fours with glowing green eyes, sharp teeth dripping with blood and shrieking so loud Katsuki's ear hurt even after he'd waken up.
After that dream, Katsuki had been in such a panic to get away from him that he'd fallen off the bed. He didn't want to talk about that, though.
The dream on Wednesday wasn't really as scary horror wise. Instead, it was scary because it brought up a memory Katsuki really didn't want to remember.
It was in the library again. This time they were on the leather couch with the old tartan blanket wrapped around their shoulders as they huddled together and bent over a book. The fireplace was on and the room was dark, ill lit but the orange tint of flames once again, but it wasn't raining this time.
"Ahh, Kacchan, these are scary!" Izuku had squealed, burying his face in the crook of Katsuki's neck and gripping onto his top.
"These are nothing, Deku. I could easily kick their butts!" Katsuki boasted, trying to ignore the pink tint on his cheeks.
Izuku pulled back, eyes glistening with admiration. "Really?!"
"Of course," Katsuki smiled, like the smile he saw in that cool hero film Izuku showed him, "I'm gonna be a hunter one day!"
Izuku's smile grew even wider and his face shone with even more praise. "You're the best, Kacchan!" he jumped forward, grabbing Katsuki's chubby cheeks and connected their lips.
It was the first time Izuku had kissed him. He didn't really know why, though. Katsuki remembered his face got so hot it was nearly the same colour as his eyes. He'd been so embarrassed he almost ripped the book he was holding in half.
He hadn't woken up in a panic, frantically looking around the room to make sure glowing green eyes weren't still watching him; but he sure as hell preferred it to that. He'd shoved those memories down and forgotten about them long ago. He didn't want to think about them again.
So after that whole fiasco, Katsuki would be damned if he was going to have another dream. He'd rather not wake up nearly pissing his pants. And he'd like to never wake up with that light, fluttery feeling ever fucking again. Which meant his only option was to stay awake. He was sure he could do it, he was a teenager. Teens are built to get no sleep and somehow go about their day like they hadn't been staring at a phone and drinking coffee all night. It was what he was made to do.
But, in hindsight, staying up was easier said than done. Katsuki was a man who stuck to a schedule; he woke up, worked out, ate, went to school, did his work and then slept. On weekends he allowed himself to laze a bit more, but still followed a schedule nonetheless.
Katsuki leant back against the old leather couch with a groan, head lolling back against it. He stared up at the ceiling, scared that if he closed his eyes he'd fall asleep. His head hurt; his body was sore; he was hungry for some reason; and why the fuck did it hurt to blink?
