Aizawa's Point of View~
I had just returned home from a tiring day at UA and I was looking through my mail as I walked to my front door. It was then that I overheard some passerby pedestrians talking about the hero Elementalist. Hearing her name in casual conversation, her superhero name nonetheless, made me think back to the time when we were at UA together.
~Flashback~
"Shota, what are you doing?! I thought you were going to walk home with me, not leave me behind!"
I heard that familiar, angry voice and footsteps running up behind me. Then I turned to greet my nuisance of a friend. I'm sure my expression looked like it usually did- somewhere between tired and emotionless.
"Yeah, well you were taking too long, as usual. Layla, you know that right? Besides, I need a nap so I am going home," I said to her.
"Yeah, well, you're being a jerk right now! I thought you were talking with Hizashi!" She replied with a prominent pout.
I just ignored her because she was being particularly annoying at the moment.
~End Of Flashback~
I smiled at that memory and headed inside to put my teaching stuff away and grab a snack before heading to the couch. As I sat down, I turned on the news and the first thing that popped up was a montage of Layla doing her hero work.
I reached for my phone to call Mic and find out what was going on, but I froze, my hand an inch from the thin rectangle when I saw the words on the bottom of the screen.
"We will miss you Elementalist. Thank you for being such a great hero."
A feeling of dread came over me, and I just stared at the screen, not quite being able to comprehend what had just happened. I'm not sure how long I sat there, but the next thing I knew, my phone was going off, causing me to jump and snatch it off the floor.
"Hello this is Sho-" I started, my tone somehow still sounding bored and lacking in interest, as usual.
I was cut off by an extremely loud and obnoxious voice that I knew all too well, "ERASER!! LAYLA WAS KILLED TODAY!! SHE WAS DOING-"
I cut him off in a croaky voice, my stomach dropping, "Wait she died? How?"
"Hero work," he answered, "Such a shame for her daughter... Serenity Rose, wasn't it? I don't know what is going to happen to her now. I feel bad for the girl."
"WAIT WHAT?! She has a daughter?! Since when?!" I yelled, completely forgetting about keeping my voice low, or the fact that my neighbours had likely never heard my voice before.
"Since, what fifteen years ago... You didn't know? I thought she told you."
That idiot.
"No, no I did not!" I then hung up and sat in silence.
~Serenity's Point of View~
While on my way to the cafe to meet my mother after a long day at school, I had begun to flip through my book while I basked in the warm sunlight and the wind began to blow through my long, silvery blonde hair. As I turned the page, my ringtone began to sound, so I closed my book, keeping a finger between the pages as not to lose my place, then proceed to pull my phone out of my pocket to look at the caller ID.
Huh, an unknown number... Well, it's probably best to just ignore it since I don't know who it is... I thought to myself as I slid my phone back into my pocket and opened my book once more. I hadn't even found my place before my ringtone sounded again, causing me to sigh in annoyance and repeat the process. Finger in book, fish the phone out of the pocket. Huh... same caller ID... Suppose I'd better answer it this time, huh? Uggh.
