~The next day~
~Serenity's point of view~
I awoke to the sound of a knock on my door.
I guess today is the day, right? I asked myself. I slid out of the bed, my feet barely touching the ground before I started directly for the guest bathroom. Once inside, I undid my braid and brushed my hair with a brush I had been told I could use at the beginning of the week, then I went and turned the shower on to let the water warm up. I returned to the counter and did one last check of my hair before pulling off my night clothes and getting into the humid shower. The feeling of the warm water hitting my skin sent a relaxing and calming feeling though my body and mind as I washed myself off.
The feeling evaporated, however, when I turned the water off and stepped out of the shower to wrap a towel around myself and one around my hair. After drying myself off and making my way back to my room, I noticed something I hadn’t seen before. Laid out across the bed was a beautiful, sleeveless black dress with sequins around the skirt and chest areas, along with a ribbon laying to the side, which I assumed was for me to tie loosely around my neck as a kind of necklace. Sitting on the bed next to it were some cute black flats.
I figured that this was the outfit I was supposed to be wearing today so I put on the dress and slipped on my new flats before making my way back into the bathroom to finish drying my hair. It took me a moment to decide what I was going to do with it, but eventually I settled on an angelic fishtail crown braid. After I finished getting my hair to cooperate, I finished a few last things and double checked that I had everything packed. I took a deep breath as I pulled my bag over my shoulder and gripped my phone in my free hand. I was ready, at least physically, to move in with Mr. Aizawa, where I’ll be living from now on.
I entered the dining room and found Mr. Tsukaushi sitting at the table. He took a moment to look at what I was wearing before he spoke.
“You look nice. I’m glad Aizawa and I got you that dress. Thought it would look nice on you, plus it fits you perfectly right?” Tsukauchi asked. I nodded and he got up from his chair. “We should get going now, okay?” He started for the door and I followed after him.
~20 Minute Time Skip~
~Aizawa’s Point Of View~
When I arrived at the building in which we would be holding Layla’s funeral service, I began to search for Tsukauchi. Serenity would be with him, wouldn’t she?
I managed to find Tsukauchi quickly enough, but my original thought was proved wrong as Serenity was nowhere to be seen.
“Hey Tsukauchi glad I found you,” I started, figuring I should try to be diplomatic.
“Hey,” He replied.
“Where is Serenity? I thought she was with you?” I commented, trying not to show how worried I was about her. For the love of- how have I gotten so attached and overprotective of her already?
“She’s in the bathroom. Let’s just go sit down, okay?” he replied, eyeing me in a way that made me feel like he could see through my normal expression to the concerns I was trying to keep to myself…. As well as the overwhelming sadness that being here was causing me.
~Serenity’s Point Of View~
Once we arrived at the place where mom’s funeral was to be held, I found myself overcome with emotions and took off to the only place I could think of where there was little to no chance of anyone interrupting me.
As I broke away from him, starting for the bathroom door, Mr. Tsukauchi stopped me with a gentle hand on my arm. “Where are you going? You know it's going to start soon, right?” he asked me.
