*Zoya's POV*:
"Dan, I'll call you back," I said, hanging up because I badly wanted to know what had actually happened to my little sister, Adiva.
"Okay, so she was having a black stick and?" I asked Lia, narrowing my eyes.
"Oh, yeah.. hmm.. she was having a black stick with her, and she wrote something on the wall. Nayela has been watching this, but she didn't want to tell me. I was beside the vanity table when I called her name. I remember calling her thrice, but she didn't respond," Lia said with wet eyes.
"I wonder what's wrong with her," I said, rubbing my temple.
"And-and then... I saw her writing something on the wall. I was too afraid to notice it," Nayela stammered.
"Adiva! I screamed and saw her pretty eyes turning white and she suddenly became unconscious," Nayela said with a horror look.
I was recalling all the horrific memories which I went through a few days ago.
"Something's wrong," I whispered and headed to my room with confusion, fear and doubt written all over my face.
After an hour :
"How's Adiva?" I asked, breaking the silence.
"She's okay. The doctor said that there's nothing to worry. She needs rest." He said, driving.
Hammaad is taking us to the hospital now. I was in the passenger seat while Lia and Nayela sat in the bucket seat.
"She was acting different the past few days," Lia said softly.
"Hmm... Lia, maybe something is stressing her out," Hammaad said, rubbing his temple.
"Stressed? Bro, she's not in her fifties," Nayela said bitterly.
"We've arrived," Ham said, entering the parking slot.
******
"Ding!" The elevator stopped at the fifth floor and we followed Hammaad to the room where Adiva was.
Shocked. Disappointed. Heart broken.
It surprised me to see my little sister in that state. She was lying on the bed wearing a blue gown and her hair was messy. I still remember how she hated when her hair was messy and how she immediately combs it to look perfect and neat. Those memories brought tears to my eyes. She looked pale, dull, and exhausted. I ran to her with hot tears running down my cheeks. I hugged her and planted a kiss on her forehead.
"Don't worry, Adiva. The Almighty loves you and he will definitely cure you. I will buy your favorite blueberry ice cream from Baskin Robins soon." I whispered, kissing her pink cheeks.
"Relax, Zo. There's nothing to worry. She will be alright soon. I spoke to the doctor a while ago and she assured not to worry. Adiva needs to rest and she will recover completely in a day or two," Aunty Anya said, patting my shoulders.
I smiled in return and walked to the little balcony. My conversation with aunt Anya did not convince me. The only thing that ran through my mind was the black stick.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
A message from My Love, Daaniyal.
"You're not okay. I know something's bothering you. I'm always here for you, my love." - Dan.
I smiled at how blessed I am to have him in my life and I called him.
"Zoya?" He asked, worried.
"Daaniyal, I have to tell you something important," I said, heaving a sigh.
"Chill baby. You're overthinking. I'm sure Adiva is depressed about something. I mean, your parents aren't there with you girls and I think you must spend more time with her. Talk to her, ask her if everything's okay. Make her do what she loves. She loves painting and drawing. Get her to do those. Also, you can plan about our wedding with them, cook your favorite meal, watch movies, play games—"
"Yes, Dan. Yes. Hey, I'll call you back," I said, running to Adiva.
"Hammaad, what's happening?" I screamed.
"Ring the call bell, Zoya. Make it fast," Aunt Anya said, patting Adiva's cheeks.
As soon as I rang the bell, the nurses came rushing with equipments and machines.
"Please move," the nurses said, and we walked away, giving them space.
She is undergoing a seizure again!
I sat on a chair beside Lia and Nayela. I couldn't do anything. All I did was raise my hands to the Almighty and made a lot of duas while tears ran down my cheeks.
"I wish you were here, mom and dad. I really wish," I whispered between sobs.
"I wish they were here too," Lia said, hugging me with tears in her eyes.
The doctors and the nurses are trying their best to bring Diva back to normal.
"Zoya" I heard someone calling my name. It was more like a whisper. I turned around to check who it was.
"Zoya, I'm here," I heard someone tapping on the door. Since I was standing beside the door, I could hear the voice clearly. I turned around again and found my mother-in-law waving at me. I opened the door immediately and walked to her.
"Aunty, what brought you here?" I asked, looking at Dan's best friend, Viyaan, who was standing beside her.
"Daaniyal called me a while ago and informed us that Adiva is ill and you girls are all alone in the hospital with your aunt and brother. So, I asked Viyaan to bring me here," she said, embracing me into a friendly hug.
"Oh, aunty. Thank you so much for being kind," I said, hugging her back.
"How's she now?" Aunty Inshia asked worriedly.
"She's undergoing seizure for the second time. This has never happened to her. I don't know, aunt. Please, please pray for my sister's health," I whispered.
"Don't worry Zo. She'll be alright. Allah is always there for her. Trust Him," she said, patting my shoulders.
I heard the door creak, so I turned around to check who it was.
"Zoya, Adiva's mentioning your name. The doctors want you," Hammaad said, gesturing me to walk fast.
I walked towards the room and entered silently. Adiva was watching my steps with wide eyes and a pale face.
"Adiva?" I whispered.
"Naneun neoleul akkiji anh -eul geos -ida," she screamed with gritted teeth. She moved forward to hold my neck, but unfortunately she fainted as the nurse injected her.
"What was all that?" I asked Ham, but not a single soul replied.
"Zoya, let's go to the cafeteria?" Hammaad asked like as if nothing happened.
"Huh?" I raised my brow.
"Please?" He pleaded.
"Let's go," I said, exiting the room.
I know he badly wants to confess something to me... something related to Adiva.
