The sky was dark, the stars twinkled through the sky as the moon shined down onto the beautiful city of Florence. Declan's anxiety was slowly starting to drift away and excitement took its place. He wanted to explore, to experience the country.
He sat in the back of the cab, staring out into the night. He wondered if he could go on a walk once they arrived at their hotel, after all he knew we wouldn't be sleeping tonight, as he slept on the plane.
But he doubted they would allow it, they knew how much of a klutz the boy was, he would end up getting lost the moment he stepped outside, Declan was just a little too shy to ask for permission anyways.

Soon enough, the car came to a stop, and Declan jumped out of the car as fast as he could. He didn't mean to come off as rude, But he has a hard time around strangers, and he's been around them all day. So he was in a hurry to be inside.

The hotel was beautiful. Declan's jaw practically dropped to the floor. It was expensive and obviously out of their budget. "How did we afford this?" Declan questioned his guardians, a look of worry crossed their faces, but they changed before Declan had the chance to notice,
"Let's not worry about money, buddy. Let's head inside"  Thomas ushered him to the door.
Declan sighed, walking towards the door, holding it open for the two. Thomas walked up to the front desk to receive the key cards. "Can I take a shower when we get to the room?" The young nephalem asked his Aunt, "of course"
Declan smiled, as Thomas walked over to his small family. "Room 312" he said, pushing the elevator button.
Declan rolled his eyes, walking into the lift, "of course it is"

Declan removed his clothes quickly, in a rush to get into the warm shower as the room was cold, he stepped into the small shower, turning the water on high and letting it beat over his head.Closing his eyes and letting his mind wonder,
'Ever since I found out what I am, things started to go downhill. Nothing seems right anymore,
Why are we even here? It seemed so rushed' he sighed. 'I hate feeling like this, it comes in waves, one moment I'm excited to be here, the next I'm absolutely freaking out. What is wrong with you?'

Declan was pulled out of his thoughts as he heard a sob coming from the other room. 'Is Aunt Pamela crying?'
He tried his best to listen to what was going on, but the running shower hissing in his ear covered the conversation on the other side of the door.

Declan stepped out of the shower, leaving it on to give the idea he wasn't ease dropping. The naked boy tip toed closer to the door, dripping water onto the white tiles below.

"Tonight? I thought we'd have more time" Pamela sobbed, her husband trying his best to hold back his own tears, "I... I know dear, me too."

'What the hell are they talking about?'

Declan sighed, after not hearing any more talking. He was hoping to get more information. He walked back over to the shower, reaching in and turning it off.
He the reached for the towel, he quickly wiped the water droplets off his body, and rubbed the towel over his hair before dropping it onto the floor to mop of the puddles.

He slipped into some black jeans and a matching black sweater. He didn't bother getting in pajamas, since he'd be up all night he'd start getting ready for tomorrow. He'd need to stay awake all of tomorrow to keep a good sleep schedule.

He slowly opened the door, unsure if he should go out there or not.
He looked over, his aunt knitting and Uncle watching the small television that sat against the wall. They looked as if nothing had happened, but he could see the puffiness under her eyes that she tried to cover with her glasses.

"Declan um, I uh.." Thomas started before looking nervously over to Pam. They both looked to be on the verge of tears. She nodded at him to continue,
"Declan I need you to run an errand for me"

"An errand?"

"Uh yeah " he scratched the back of his neck, " I need you to go to the store real quick, okay?"

Declan looked confused, "the store? Why me? I don't even know where to go"

Thomas pinched the bridge of his nose, and squeezed his eyes shut tight, "we're very tired, can you please just go? I'll show you where on google maps."

"Alright, I guess" Declan pulled out his phone, unlocking it and pulling up google maps before handing it to his Uncle Thomas, "I need you to go here okay?"

Declan nodded, "what do you need me to get?"

"What?"

"At the store, what do you need me to get?"

"Oh yeah.. butter, I need you to get butter"

"Just butter?" Thomas nodded, and handed the child money.

"Alright.." Declan whispered to himself and turned to walk out the door.

"Wait!" Aunt Pamela stood up, running to the boy and wrapping her arms around him,
"I love you so much" she whispered, kissing him on the head.

"You're so weird" he whispered back, before slipping his shoes on.

"One thing of butter, coming right up" he said before walking out the door.

It seemed as if the moment he stepped out, the sobs returned.

'What's happening to them? Is something going to happen to me?'

'No no no, it's just your anxiety getting to you. You're far from home, you're on edge. Everything will be okay'

Declan walked to the stairs, he always preferred them over elevators. He hopped down the steps, full of energy. He was starting to be excited to be able to walk and explore since he was too afraid to ask earlier.
He walked out of the stair cases and into the lobby, sending a friendly nod to the employees, which they kindly returned.
He opened the front door, a gentle gush of wind blowing his hair, he breathed in the nice, fresh air and looked down at his phone, 'alright take a right and walk down this street for a little bit, seems simple enough' he put his phone in his back right pocket and began down the street.

Declan began to walk fast, as he felt eyes on him but no one to be seen. He told himself it was all in his head but his fear got the better of him, and so the young boy began to jog, hoping to get there faster.

A few blocks down, Declan stopped, to catch his breath before he had a full on asthma attack, and to check his maps.

He sat down on a step belonging to his church, and took a long deep breath in his nose, and slowly exhaled. He repeated  three more times, before reaching to his pocket, pulling out his phone.

'That's weird.. it says I'm next to the store. But where is it?'
Declan stood up, doing a full 360 on his tippy-toes.

'What the fuck, Uncle Thomas?'

Declan felt a gush of wind, this one stronger than before. The watching feel grew stronger, and a presence was felt from behind,
The boy spun around quickly, horrified as to find two men standing there.

"Hello Declan"

His eyes went wide, who were these men? How did they know his name?

"We've been waiting for you"
