Setting: The March Household 1861

"Oh hurry up Meg." Jo yelled boyishly from the sofa. "And don't think i've forgotten about you Abby you must be having a fun time huh?" Jo yelled once again, now positioned at the foot of the stairs.

"We're coming! Calm Yourself." Meg whisper shouted rushing down the stairs, closely followed by Abigail. The sisters were wearing the prettiest dresses they could find, Meg was in a pink silk dress that took advantage of her gorgeous upper figure, and had a ball gown like bottom. Abigail was in a little lavender number gifted to her from Aunt March that puffed up at the sleeves and gave her the only feel she had ever known of opulence, though she didn't say it, Meg was a trifle jealous.

Jo was wearing a maroon dress with more pronounced shoulder pads and upper bodice. 'I'd like to feel strong but adequate.' She had said earlier in the day, not taking a fancy to airy dresses or posh parties.

Meg however, was ready to make the most out of Mrs. Gardiners gathering, for she seldom went to events like this, and envied the wealthy girls that did. She had taken the most time to get ready, picking away at her appearance to be more appealing to the boys. To say the least, her corset was barely allowing her to breath.

On the other hand. Abby, who was quite the fairytale believer, was quite excited, a real party with dresses, wine and handsome men. She was so content, though she didn't get other princess things, like a carriage, mice as sidekicks or a petite tiara, she was happy to go.

"You must tell me about all the boys you come across!" Amy said excitedly, holding her hand on her heart. "I was told there would be Italian boys!" She recounts dreamily. "If only I could go!"

Beth smiled at her awestruck sister before making her own request. "Would you please try to remember the music you hear." She beamed, all rosy. "I'm in desperate need of new material."

"Of course, I'll be sure to ask the pianist for sheet music and keep an eye out for young Italian boys." Abby giggled, receiving a hearty laugh from the girls.

...

"Jo! remember to stay with your back against the wall, give me a sign if you wish to do something, i'll raise my brow or something." Meg bossed before turning to her other sister.

"And Abby, be sure to let me know if you see anyone who's pretty and Italian." Meg giggled lightly before getting lost in the sea of dancers.

Josephines mouth dropped open.
"She's out of her mind if she thinks i'm gonna stay here the whole night." Jo said defensively, taking her spot in a secluded corner, her head bobbing subtly to the music. Josephine occasionally waved over at Meg for permission to dance or get some food, but the elder sisters eyebrow rose so violently that she didn't dare move.

Then and there, the sisters left Abigail alone, it didn't take her long to realise that this wasn't quite like a fairy tail, no fair ladies were lined up ready to be introduced, and all the men were yelling boyishly and dancing clumsily. Wine, she thought.
