Setting: The March family attic 1861

"Mr. President and gentlemen, I wish to propose the admission of a new member. One who highly deserves the honour, would be deeply grateful and would add immensely to the spirit of the club," Jo said excitedly.
"I propose Mr. Theodore Laurence!"

A small frown tugged at Abbys lips, The Laurence boy and Jo had been spending so much time together since Abigail and Laurie's dispute. It made Abby so mad that she didn't know exactly why Laurie was upset, and now that he wasn't going to help her, so she had no chance of escaping Aunt March, for all Abby knew, she could be shipped off to Europe with that wicked lady tomorrow.

"Absolutely not!" Amy stated.

"Come now! let's have him!" Jo encouraged

"He's a real boy!" Amy retorted.

Meg shook her head. "We don't want any boys, this is a club for ladies."

"I think we should do it, even if we are afraid. I say yes, it's Laurie!" Beth said, feeling more comfortable in sharing her opinions with her sisters.

"What about you Abby? What do you think?" Jo asked, hoping her sister would side with her too.

"I honestly don't care whether that boy is allowed into the club or not." Abigail said nonchalantly.

The young boy frowned at this, for no one but Jo knew, but he was hiding behind the clothing racks, he didn't know exactly why he was so mad at the girl either.

feelings, they are terrible aren't they?

"Ok ok, everyone in favour say aye."

"Aye."

"Aye."

"Fine....Aye."

"Aye."

"Abby?"

"I don't care."

"Then it's settled! he's in!" Jo beamed. "And! there is is no time like the present!"

Suddenly the once concealed Laurence boy tumbled out of the mound of clothes, giving all the girls a right shock at that.

"You traitor!" Amy squealed, holding her hand to her heart.

"You rogue!" Meg countered at Jo.

Ladies please! I deserve the blame; for Jo only gave in after lots of teasing!" Laurie bowed deeply, and then after digging through his pockets, produced five keys.

"I would like to present these five keys, for a small postbox resides near the lake." He said happily, this was the first time Abigail had seen a twinkle in his eye, and only just then noticed the slight crinkle when he smiled.

Abby also noticed Jo giving Laurie an encouraging yet get it over with stare, as he gave each girl her key, he stopped at Abby, giving her one with a green ribbon, opposed to the others which were red and blue.

"Meet me by the lake mon ange." He said quietly in her ear, to which she was left in utter shock. Abby was noticing so many more things about the boy she had never noticed, and felt things she had never felt,

around him.

...

Abigail arrived at the lake, where she was greeted by Laurie sitting on the grass, looking out on the water.

She went timidly and slumped beside him.

"I missed you Abby." He said lowly, never taking his eyes from the deep blue.

"Why?" The young girl asked. "Why are you so mad? You could have just declined me and we could have moved along, but everything has to be difficult with you doesn't it?"

"I'm not trying to make things difficult."

"Then what are you doing!"

"Fine Abby! I was mad because you said you had to lie to your aunt about loving me," He snapped. "I figured you'd love me Abby!"

"Listen Teddy, I don't know how I feel, and I can't risk falling in love while i'm still here, someone has to go with aunt march and it's most likely going to be me!"

"Then don't go! come with me Abby! Lets just run, run away from here." Laurie said, standing up.

"I can't just get up and leave!"

"If you loved me you would come." The boy said, which was followed by a long period of silence from the girl.

"I just don't understand Abby!" Laurie exclaimed. "I'm ready to love you, as much as my poor soul can, but it seems like you're never ready to love me!"

"I'm not good enough for you, and getting up and leaving on one of your mental whims isn't good enough for me either!" Abigail yelled, taking a step back, causing Laurie to come towards her.

Her cheeks flushed and knees became weak.
"Do I make you nervous mon ange?" Laurie asked, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.

For the second time that afternoon, the only answer given to the young Laurence boy was silence.

"I don't want things to change between us." Laurie whispered, giving Abigail a kiss on the cheek.

The only thing Abby wanted to do was turn her head ever so slightly so his lips were on hers, but she couldn't, for she knew would never be able to marry in Europe, all because of the boy next door.

And that, my dear readers, was the first confession.
