Rigid. Cold. These are the words you held in the back of your mind whenever Lawliet, L as you were to call him, entered a room. He was ice. Maybe stone, he wasn't so easy to see through, nor would his demeanor melt. Or so you thought initially. Who was to guess that Lawliet had such an insatiable sweet tooth? Did he yearn for something more than chocolate? These weren't things that concerned you nonetheless. You were not there for pleasure, your curiosity was to lie elsewhere.
Your task was of the highest priority. Along with the rest of the American-Japanese Taskforce, the notorious Kira would be brought to justice. Although, his supporters argued he was justice. Who was to say? You were there to do a job. Saving lives, perhaps. Just another job.
Of course, you didn't expect to be working with him. The world's greatest detective, the elusive L Lawliet. He was initially introduced to you as Ryuzaki. The great reveal came later, and what a great reveal it was to you. Your belief in the mysterious detective had been fading until then. Such a man is the stuff of urban legend. Although, Kira didn't seem quite real to you either. He was just some mysterious Japanese serial killer, sensationalized to the point of superstition-- godhood, more like.
Your first day was something unprecedented. His eye's caught yours immediately. Were those chills or just your imagination? Your attention didn't remain there long. Who was this? He wasn't dressed in any professional fashion, you scoffed silently at this. This was supposed to be your colleague? This was one of the best? His stare seemed to last an eternity.
"(Y/N) (L/N)." His words were monotone. This was a statement. Your name was a matter of fact, as most things going forward seemed to be so long as they came from his lips. "You may call me Ryuzaki."
Usually, you'd offer a handshake but something told you that was an unwelcome gesture.
He held up his hand, "These headquarters," He was no doubt referring to the massive building you were standing in, "you will live here as we carry out this investigation."
As he continued to brief you about this new living situation, you questioned your ability. You almost instantly gave up any hesitations. Outside of work, not much mattered. After all, you didn't have much, you didn't need much. A good mystery struck your interest more than anything else. Was the mystery the murderer or was it the man with the deep black eyes in front of you? Both, maybe. Yes, both.
"Watari will show you to your room, arrangements will be made to bring your belongings." L began to turn away from you, only then did you notice his bare feet.
"Such an odd man,"you grew more and more curious as these thoughts danced through your skull, "Are we sure he's not Kira?"
You chuckled a bit.
