A few hours had passed, and nothing happened. Everyone was getting pretty confident that it was all a false alarm, but Ubercorn still made the Go Jetters take turns patrolling the island. Lars had just come back from his round, and now Xuli was looking out for anything. She was still scared after the nightmare she'd been told about, but now she'd mostly gotten over it.

When she passed the corn field, she gasped at the sight in front of her.

She'd long forgotten how beautiful the island was, and now she could see almost all of it. The domes reflecting the sunlight beautifully, the sound of the trees being gently blown by the breeze, making a hushing sound as its invisible form soared by. The cadets looked like they were having the time of their lives out on the grounds, chasing each other and playing charades.

Some of the younger ones were busy playing leapfrog or making mud (or rather dry soil) pies, when one of them turned his head to the shore and pointed. The other children looked too with puzzled looks on their adorable faces.

She followed their gaze and was astounded at what she found.

The sea was gone.

The formerly covered seabed was now bare and dry, with the water completely out of sight. So much of it had disappeared that Xuli could even see Granny Glitch's submarine that they'd found several years ago.

She quickly ran to the beach, trying to figure out what was going on. There were fish galore, squirming around and trying to find water. It was all so strange. Now the nightmare didn't seem so much like trivial nonsense.

Then she heard a rumble. It was small at first, but it slowly got louder. And louder. And louder. Then on the horizon, Xuli spotted something big. Something dangerous.

She instantly realized what it was. She tried to call Ubercorn, but she was frozen. Her mind was screaming at her to move, her instincts were ordering her to run, but her body just wouldn't budge. After a few moments, Xuli found her ability to move again and called to the cadets on the beach "Go to the cliffs! Gather as many cadets as you find! Go quickly!" before she ran herself and radioed Ubercorn, yelling "Ubercorn!? UBERCORN!!"

"Woah woah woah, Xuli. Calm down."

"Broadcast my radio frequency to all available speakers in the Academy."

"But why? You found something?"

"Just do it."

---

"Left a little!" ordered Foz, motioning to Lars and a cadet.

"Foz, if we go any further left, we'll fall off the cliff." grumbled the cadet.

"I agree." chimed in Lars. "And I don't want to know what it's like to break my neck."

Foz finally said "OK, that's fine. You can put down the solar panel now." Lars and his cadet put it down and heaved a sigh of relief. Foz then grabbed a cable and ran giddily towards the computer. He plugged it in, and the computer came to life.

"Well done, you lot." announced Ubercorn. "You guys go have a rest for now, and I'll-"

"Ubercorn!? UBERCORN!!" screamed Xuli's voice from the screen. "Woah woah woah, Xuli. Calm down." replied the unicorn.

"Broadcast my radio frequency to all available speakers in the Academy." she panted. Her voice was filled with fear and worry.

"But why? You found something?"

"Just do it."

Ubercorn hesitated, but then tweaked the signal and sent it to all speakers at the Academy. He was shocked when he heard what Xuli had to say.

Professor Wave's POV:

I was packing up the last of my equipment in my lab. Most of it was already on the cliff so I could continue my research if anything should happen. I picked up a box and headed for the door. As I opened it, I took one last look at the now empty laboratory and sighed as I closed the door behind me.

But before I made it out of the Academy, I heard Xuli's voice yelling loud enough to make my eardrums burst.

She shouted "Attention all Go Jetters! A tsunami is coming our way, I repeat, A TSUNAMI IS HEADED STRAIGHT FOR THE ACADEMY! EVACUATE TO THE CLIFF NOW!!!"

"Knew it." I murmured under my breath as I quickened my pace. From all around me, I could see the cadets remembering all that they had trained for earlier this morning. Within what seemed like a minute, everyone was there.

Foz's POV:

I was counting the cadets to make sure they were all here. But someone seemed to be missing. The other Go Jetters and I searched round for who might have not been counted or wasn't present until realization hit me hard in the head. "Wait," I called out.

"Where's Tala!?"

The crowd of cadets started mumbling and looking round for their friend. But it wasn't long before:

"Down here!" called a familiar voice. I peeked down and saw Tala making a mad dash for the cliffside. Xuli and Kyan just facepalmed themselves, probably realizing that she hadn't done almost any training whatsoever.

The tsunami was even more terrifying than I thought it would be. It was very tall and looked like it could destroy a large capacity of wildlife, and potentially even celestial bodies (stars) if there were any close by. And it was gaining on Tala. There was no time to take the proper escape route. It took several runs to perfect, and we couldn't go down that way.

So instead she started to climb at a seemingly random point on the cliff, but it wasn't exactly the best. At least it was close enough for us not to get taken by the giant wave when it came. We were all in deep thought, when suddenly Lars' face lit up.

"I have a plan!" he announced. Talk about a news flash. Your face was enough to know that.

"Remember the whole treehouse incident?"

"As if we wouldn't." replied Xuli.

"Well, when Glitch fell, we caught him making a human ladder, and I though we could do the same here. I'll stand on the edge and hold onto Kyan, who'll hold onto Xuli, who'll hold onto Foz, who'll try and reach Tala."

"I don't think we should do this, Lars." said Kyan.

"Have you got a better idea?"

"Uh...um..well, I, umm..." Kyan started. "...no."

"OK, Go Jetters, let's do this." said Lars.

We all got into formation just above where Tala was. I tried to reach her, but she was too far down. "A bit further!" I shouted.

"Foz, if I let you down further, I would be letting you go." Xuli groaned as she tried to stretch out her arms more.

"Same here." chimed in Kyan.

I yelled down "Tala? You're going to have to jump! There's no other choice!"

She cocked her head round and saw the tsunami. It was ever so close now. She only had one shot at this.

She took a few steps back, making sure she didn't fall off the ledge she was on. She then took a deep breath, slowly exhaled, and ran forward as fast as her legs could carry her. She leapt into the air, hand extended toward me. The rumble of the wave got louder and louder as the cadet got higher and higher and...

Ooh, unexpected cliffhanger! I don't think any of you wanted this, but I did say the action would start in the next chapter, so yeah!
