Location: Go Jet Academy, Pacific Ocean

Everyone heard Foz shout "Aurgh! BLAST THESE CLOUDS!!!"

"I just hope Tessa got my message..." the genius whimpered as he slowly made his way back to the others. When he got there, he finally noticed:

"TALA!?"

She cocked her head round and looked sorrowfully at him. Her eyes were red with tears, and her expression made it clear that she thought it was all her fault. She timidly waved at Foz, putting on a small, fake grin.

But that quickly faded away as she bowed her head in shame and sobbed quietly. The next thing Foz knew, Tala had thrown her arms around him and tackled him to the ground, still bawling her eyes out. He couldn't bear to see his friend like this.

"Tala, why are you so upset?"

"I did it."

Foz was confused. "Did what? You both survived. Now, uhm, would you mind getting up? It's not exactly that comfortable on the ground."

Tala said nothing, but she still stood up. I followed her lead and asked once again"Why are you so upset? Come on, you can tell me. It's what friends are for, right?"

She hesitated for a moment, before sighing and muttering in a shaky voice "OK, I'll tell you.

"I was stuck between two pieces of the Academy Dome wall. I couldn't move. I started to pass out, but before I could, Xuli came and managed to get me free. We eventually got to dry land, and-"

"WAIT, WHAT!? THEN HOW- I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. Carry on."

"So, like I said, we got to dry land, but the ledge was small and was cracking. There was a bigger island behind us that we missed, so we started climbing a tree to try and figure out a way onto the bigger one.

"Xuli started to climb the tree, but quickly collapsed. Her leg was injured. I told her to just stay down at the bottom, but she didn't. Eventually, about half-way up the tree, I found a spring branch by accident. Xuli told me to get on it, so I did. She then pulled it back and told me to let go on the count of three. I didn't know where it was going, but I did it anyway.

"So, when Xuli got to three, both of us let go of the branch. I was launched onto the bigger ledge, where some people there caught me. But Xuli couldn't get across, because after we let go, the branch snapped right off the tree.

"She got down, and then..." Tala couldn't finish her sentence. It was all too terrible to describe.

"And then what?"

The tears started coming back.

"The ledge collapsed."

Foz went pale and almost fainted. An image of what could have happened formed in his head. Tala screaming for help. The ledge and tree going under. Xuli helplessly taken by the sea.

"About 5 minutes later, I saw my uncle in the Grim Sub drift by. He managed to throw some kind of weird anchor-looking thing on the shore, stopping it from passing with the water. I got onboard, and inside, I saw a new claw he'd attached. And in that claw-" she sobbed "was Xuli. Cold, still and silent. He said he'd found her under the same tree we used, one of the branches in her chest."

Foz was about to reply when he heard a whoosh from above. It had started raining, but that didn't stop the plane coming down and landing on a clear spot on the cliff. Once it had landed, the back door opened and an ambulance rushed out, sirens wailing. It stopped by Foz and Tala, and the window opened.

Blaze peeked out and asked "Where's the patient?"

"This way." Foz said as he led the Retriever down the cliff. He stopped when he saw Kyan trying his best to keep Xuli alive, but things had gotten worse. Now she'd started coughing up blood, and he had to keep doing CPR to keep her alive.
