A week passed. Courtney got adjusted to her classes. However, he was always lingering at the back of her mind, distracting her from her studies. She hated him for it, but she also loved him.
She avoided reaching out though... she wasn't ready, but the waiting was killing her. She knew she'd have to confront Duncan sooner or later. That would be the easy part...
It was how he would react that worried her.
Ok, so maybe I wasn't the best girlfriend, she recalled her bossy ways, but he wasn't the best boyfriend either! We were so different!
But I thought we could make it work.
She laughed. Why was she still rooting for them? That, and she was sharing a room with the person who destroyed their relationship in the first place...
No, that was wrong. Gwen had been the final push, but she and Duncan were already finished before World Tour even started.
That Sunday, Courtney found herself studying in her room. Gwen came running in.
"You're always studying!" The goth girl protested.
"I have to," Courtney mumbled, laying on her stomach with her pen an inch above the paper. "Law school takes a lot of work. Not everyone could do it."
"I'll chose not to take that personally," Gwen said bitterly, but then she smiled. "Court, there's going to be a party tonight. You should come. Take a break! You deserve it, you know."
"I really should study..." Courtney sighed. She had been studying for hours. She looked out the window. It was a beautiful day.
"Alright," She said, closing her book and getting off the bed. She stretched.
"We'll go in an hour," Gwen grinned.
That was a short chapter! I wrote it in class lol. Bet you can't guess who's going to be at the party ;)
