Courtney was studying in the library with Emma. Emma was also learning to be a lawyer, and Noah was her boyfriend.

The Drama Brothers were preforming tomorrow. Courtney wanted to get her work done, so that she could go to the concert with Duncan. She laughed randomly.

"What's so funny?" Emma asked, looking up from the book she was reading with a frown. "You're interrupting my studying!"

"It's nothing," Courtney tried to keep a straight face. "Well... okay, I'm just so giddy. A month ago, I never thought I'd have a boyfriend, let alone Duncan. And now we can go to the concert together."

"I'm going with Noah," Emma got a dreamy look in her eyes. "He's the best boyfriend. He's smart, sarcastic, and he has the best butt..."

"What?" Courtney blinked.

"What?" Emma repeated, her face turning bright red. "Well, boys can be a distraction... I try not to think about him when I'm studying."

"Which is why you have a picture of him in your locker?" Courtney raised an eyebrow

"Oh shut up!"

Suddenly Noah walked over. "Hi Emma," he smiled. He looked at Courtney. "Hi Courtney," he said politely.

"Hi Noah," Courtney replied. She never got to know him well, even though they competed on two seasons together.

"Want to go on a date?" Noah asked Emma. "It's been a while, and I..."

"Yes, let's go it!" Emma said, slamming her book shut and leaping to her feet. She kissed Noah hard on the mouth, then walked off with him. Courtney was surprised by Emma's hypocrisy.

"Books before boys," she said, shaking her head and going back to her reading.

"Hey Courtney!"

Courtney looked up as Gwen approached. The goth girl was holding hands with Trent.

"Hi!" Trent fist bumped Courtney. "Long time no see, Court!"

"You too. I can't wait for the concert tomorrow," Courtney sat her book down and turned in her chair to chat with the couple. She made sure to keep her voice down, since a few kids were studying around her.

"I can't either!" Trent exclaimed. "And I'm even more excited that my sweet little goat Gwen is going to join us as a Drama Sis!"

Gwen bleated like a goat, then giggled. "You bet I am!"

"You are?" Courtney addressed her roommate. "That's exciting! What instrument are you going to play?"

"It was going to be a surprise, but whatever," Gwen shrugged, "I'm going to sing a little bit," Gwen muttered, "I'm not very good though, as you saw on World Tour."

"Are you kidding?" Trent cried, "that's the only reason I watched World Tour!"

"Thanks babe," Gwen kissed him. "But I bet you didn't like watching the rest of that season."

"Well, I was happy for you," Trent said quickly. "Since we didn't work out,  I was glad someone made you happy."

Courtney felt emotions welling up inside her that she quickly pushed down. She cleared her throat. "That's in the past," she said briskly. Trent looked at her.

"I heard you and Duncan are back together," he said.

"Yeah!" Courtney said breathlessly. "I was surprised too, but it's going well!"

Trent's usual happy face darkened, "Be careful around him," he said quietly, looking both ways as if to make sure Duncan wasn't hiding in the shadows. "Duncan's my bro, but he has a checkered history.  Make sure he doesn't hurt you."

"Duncan would never hurt me," Courtney said, a bit shocked. "I..."

"Babe!" Gwen punched Trent in the arm. "Come on, let's grab some lunch." She waved bye to Courtney and pulled Trent out of the library. Courtney barely had time to process what Trent was getting at when Duncan slid into Emma's empty seat.

"Hi Courtney!" He said, staring at her book, "yuck, homework. I haven't seen that in a while."

Courtney smiled. "Well you'll have to get used to it if you're hanging out around me. Homework and I, we're a package deal."

Duncan shrugged. "Then I guess I can live with that." He leaned across the table. "Want to go get some lunch?"

Courtney sighed. "I'd love to dear, but I have to finish this work."

"Bummer," Duncan started peeling some wood off the table.

"But I have tomorrow off," Courtney added quickly, "all day, and then at the concert. I'm all yours."

Duncan beamed at her. "You know I'm kidding. Take your time, I don't mind waiting for you." He got up and stretched his long limbs. "I've waited all this time to reunite with you... I can handle waiting a day."

Country smiled. There was still a lot she had to talk to Duncan about. About their past, and their future. But right now, she decided to focus on the present.

"Tomorrow's going to be wild," she winked at her boyfriend. "I'm going to show you a whole new side of me, darling."

Duncan looked surprised, but then he grinned. "I look forward to it." He walked over to her and kissed the top of her head, and then he exited the library. Courtney appreciated that he respected her studying, even if he didn't personally enjoy it. That's the basis of a strong relationship, she thought, respecting each other's differences.

Trent didn't know what he was talking about. She had a good thing going on with Duncan. He loved her and she loved him. Things were finally perfect.

What could possibly go wrong?
