Chapter ten

*swear warning*

Finally, the night of the concert!

Country met Duncan outside her dorm room. Gwen had already left to go backstage with Trent, so she was alone inside. The concert was being held on the campus green.

He knocked on her door. "Ready, Princess?"

"Coming!" Courtney opened the door.

Duncan gasped when he saw Courtney. She was wearing a sparkly purple dress with gold trim. He tugged at his tux, suddenly feeling under dressed. Even though this was the fanciest thing he had even worn.

Country approached him and smiled. Her beautiful caramel hair was in a tidy bun. She grabbed the collar of his shirt and adjusted it for him, then planted a kiss on his cheek.

"You look great," she said.

"So do you," Duncan blushed.

Country ran her hand down his cheek. "But you know, I find you hotter in your edgy outfit."

Duncan raised an eyebrow. "Oh?" He said playfully.

"Which is why I want you to tell me which one I look better in," Country said. She ran back into her dorm. "I'll be right back!"

"Hurry up!" Duncan said, half joking. "The event starts in 10 minutes! We don't want to be late."

Country came out a few minutes later. Duncan's jaw dropped. He hardly recognized her.

She was wearing a baggy black shirt with the words "born to rock" in red writing with a font that looked oddly like dripping blood, ripped leggings, a spiked necklace and bracelet, and her hair was jagged and hung lose over her shoulders, and she had dyed the tips purple with quick washable hair dye. Her makeup was black mascara, bright red lipstick, and purple eye shadow.

"Holy sh*t," Duncan breathed. He tore off his tux, revealing his iconic skull shirt underneath.

Country laughed. "You were wearing that under your tux?"

"Yeah," Duncan said sheepishly, "This isn't a formal event, but when you said to dress fancy..."
 
"That was just so I could see your reaction when I put this on," Country did a spin, showing off her emo outfit. "Well? What do you think?"

"It's great," Duncan said. "But it doesn't seem like you..."

"Oh, you're going to see a whole new side to me tonight," Country giggled. She reached up, grabbed Duncan's face, and pulled him down into a kiss. He closed his eyes in content.

"Do you mind?" Noah asked as he passed in the hallway.

Finally, they broke apart. Country grinned.

"Come on, let's get wild!"
