His expression had been blank, but now it contorted into a huge grin.

"Good. So Good. Very clever"

Jim took a sip of his tea, and averted his gaze to painting on the wall to his right.

"Mutually assured destruction. How sexy" he chuckled, while shaking his head slightly.

"You must be pretty proud of yourself, such a little schemer" he praised with underlying mockery.

He met my gaze once again, and I stiffened in my seat. His eyes had turned dark and cold, and as his smile slowly faded away, I knew something was up.

"I bet you don't even see the gigantic flaw in your perfect little plan..." He leaned back a little, while he reached inside his black blazer.

A lump got caught in my throat, as I stared at the handgun, he had retrieved.

He studied the gun in his hand with a bored expression on his face.

What the hell was he doing. We were in a crowed café, how could he be so careless? Panic slowly spread through my body, as my eyes darted around the café, to see if anyone had noticed us. Was he going to kill me right here? No he wouldn't, not with this many witnesses. Or would he? Did he even care?

He cocked the gun and placed it on the table beside his cutlery. His calm, cold eyes met my panicked ones across the table.

"Have you figured it out yet? The flaw in your plan?" He questioned, as he tilted his head slightly, amusement flickering in his dark eyes.

My heart was beating rapidly in my chest, and my thoughts were going a hundred miles an hour, plotting every possible escape route and categorizing potential weapons.

"You can't shoot me, especially not in here. As I just explained, you need me, not to mention the at least eleven potential witnesses in this café." As hard as I tried, I couldn't stop my voice from quivering slightly.

A cold smile tugged at his lips, as he lifted his left hand and snapped his fingers. At once, a deadly silence filled the atmosphere of the café. Everyone had simply stopped talking. The next thing that happened left me baffled in my seat. They just got up and left. The staff, the guests, EVERYONE in the entire café just walked right out the door. What the hell was happening.

My eyes snapped back to Jim, as he cleared his throat. A small gasp escaped me, as he had the barrel of the gun pointing directly at me.

My heartbeat increased its hammering against my ribcage and my breath got caught in my throat.

"And there it is" Jim smiled. "The flaw in your plan. Fear."

I sucked in some much needed oxygen. What was he talking about?

"You see in this game of chess, you have but one move. You are aware, that making this move, will surely result in one thing. Your death. Therefore, in order to win this game, it is vital, that you are not afraid of dying."

He uncocked the gun, and placed it back in the holster he was wearing underneath his blazer.

He straightened his suit and leaned back.

"Unless you suddenly develop a death wish, you are of no threat to me" he finished, with a satisfied smile on his face.

Anger suddenly overtook me. That smug bastard! I got up so fast, that my chair tumbled backwards, and I slammed my hands onto the table.

"You have killed everyone I ever loved and cared about!" – My voice was shaking from withheld anger.

"I never touched your family" Jim scoffed with an annoyed expression.

"You may not have been the one who pulled the trigger, but you sure as hell loaded the gun" – I spat through gritted teethes.

"You really think, I won't sacrifice myself it that's what it comes to? Do you really think, I care that much about my life? I have no one, I have NOTHING." I was practically screaming by the end, and I forced myself to calm down a bit.

"I have nothing except this" I mentioned between the two of us.

"Revenge. That's honestly all that keeps me going these days. So don't think for one second th-".

My voice died down, as a woozy fog filled my head. I stumbled to the side, but managed to grab a hold of the table last minute, to prevent myself from falling.

"What the hell.... Wait did you... did you drug me?" I questioned, glaring at the blurry silhouette of Jim across from me. He stood up and straightened his suit, not dignifying my question with an answer, as he walked towards the door.

I released my tight grip of the table in an attempt to chase after him, which only resulted in me kissing the floor. I could barely keep my eyes open, as two blurry figures approached me.

Then everything went black.
