Chapter Ten - An unexpected visitor

A couple of days has passed, since me finding out that Jinri was indeed a vampire and also when I haven't seen my mother, since the day she caught me in my room.

Jinri keeps telling me that I should tell my mother now and stop stalling, and if I don't do it. She'll actually find a way to do it herself. Because I'm just making it hard on myself, which I know I was.

I was currently downstairs in the living room, staring blankly at the screen with my picture in the article, showing that I was indeed dead.

“Stop looking at that” Jinri came in the living room, closing my laptop shut, handing me a cup of hot tea.

“It's hard not to- to even think that I'm dead” I took a little sip of my tea before placing it on the coffee table in front of us.

“You're not dead silly. You're alive and breathing” Jinri said, as she even pinched me hard on my cheek to even prove that I was indeed alive.

“I know that” I slapped her hand away “I meant like I've been dead for six years, thinking my mother thought I was still alive, which made me even more annoyed that she never looked for me” I explained.

“Faking your death, was the only way that she could not look for you” Jinri stated “and don't think that she wouldn't, if she knew that you were alive” She added right after knowing in what I was thinking.

“I'm sure, she probably would just send the cops after me and then along with finding me, beat me half to death for running away” I said knowingly.

“Well, I'm sure, that isn't true” Jinri said taking my cup of tea, sipping some of it.

“You don't know my mother” I said, despite me seeing her with Alayna, in how she treats her. She said it herself, the only reason she beats on me, because I'm just an image of my father.

“Think what you wanna think” Was all Jinri said, placing the tea back on the coffee table.

“I know who's Vivian Marie Rossford- She's a women, who treated me like an animal. And I ain't gonna lie, I do feel a bit sorry for her, seeing her regret her actions, but it doesn't change the fact that she gave me hell and scars to remember those times, that'll surely would never forget” I stated clearly “Which makes me remember something, how come my father didn't think I was dead?” I asked, remembering my meet up with my father and that he didn't question anything about that night “I'm sure my death must've gone global, knowing I am the step daughter of a man, who owns one of the most popular companies around the world” I told Jinri, knowing damn well that basically everyone would know that sixteen years old who took her own life six years ago.

“Actually Damian tried to cover it up” Jinri told me, which got me surprised “Do you think having everyone know that his step daughter committed suicide, would be good for his reputation?” She crossed her arms before continuing “Obviously people would question, why would his sixteen years old step daughter would want to take her own life? Living the way she lived in luxury” Come to think of it, that would be something big for Damian, knowing damn well his stocks would go down and probably even lose his business, if they found out the reason, but I also know my mother wouldn't come off clean as well and will be in bigger trouble.

“Well they did–” I was cut short in what I was about to say when the doorbell rang.

“Who could that be?” Jinri said as she went to go check with me following after.

Jinri looked through the peephole “It's your mother” I was a bit surprised to know that she was standing at my front door step, thinking that she would've been still mad at me.

Once Jinri opened the door, I just stood behind her.

“I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come unannounced. I just needed to speak to Alice” Jinri just gave me that look  hearing my mother calling me Alice instead of Alison.

“Well Alice, is right here” Jinri stepped back “and I guess I'll just leave you two alone” She said and then left us alone, seeing her go upstairs.

“P-Please come in” I stuttered a little, feeling a bit nervous, not knowing why.

“Oh no it's okay” Vivian shook her head “I just came here, cause I wanted to apologize for the other day.- I know I must've overreacted. It's just that, seeing you in my daughter's room..” She trailed off, like she was thinking “It just brought back memories that I would try to forget, but then I can't, because it's stuck with me” She said, which I can tell she was holding back her tears “Any who, I didn't come here to get emotional” She took a deep breath “My husband and I is hosting a small event at our house and I would like for you to come” She handed me an invitation, with me reluctantly taking it “I'm sure Alayna would want you to be there” She added with a smile.

“Where is she by the way?” I asked, noticing that she didn't come with my mother.

“Oh she's with her father, he's hardly ever home, so she just has to spend time with him when she can- Anyways, I hope you can come”.

“You mind if I bring my roommate?” I asked, seeing how every since we got here, me and Jinri hardly ever spend time together. Because it's either her missing in action or we just seem to do our own thing.

“By all means, the more the merrier”.

“Well then, I guess I'll see you tomorrow” I said, Vivian just nodded as we waved each other goodbye, with me closing the door.

“When do you ever learn?” Jinri said, startling me a bit, thinking that she was still upstairs, but she was sitting at the end of the stairs.

“What do you mean?” I said pretending that I didn't know what she was talking about, as I leaned against the door.

“The fact that you could've just came clean and just told her that you were Alison and NOT Alice”.

“I'll be sure to do it tomorrow” I told her “No promises though” I quickly added after.

“Well all I'm gonna say is, you either do it or your girlfriend here will do all the talking” Jinri said before heading upstairs.

I just took a deep breath, Alison you can do this... I told myself mentally.
