JENNIE POV
It's been a week since I decided to stay away from Lisa. She's been calling me three times a day just to tease me, but I always refused to meet her.
I'm just too embarrassed to see her. I break down in front of her twice already. The second reason is I'm not yet ready to answer all of her questions. So here I am, hiding and running like a rat. Preventing the inevitable even it's just for a while.
"What?"
I picked up Lisa's call for the third time today.
"Are you free tonight?"
"No. I'm sorry I'll have dinner with Jisoo."
I answered as I bit my bottom lip. This is the nth lie I said to her and I'm feeling guilty whenever I do it. I just can't you know see her.
"That's alright. I'll see you soon, then. Take care, Jennie."
Sadness and disappointment laced in her tone. I heave a sigh after ending the call.
I'm sorry, Lisa. You shouldn't be with someone like me. I'm just burdening you with my issues.
I drove to my favorite coffee shop and sat down on the spot I considered my comfort zone already. I was observing people walking by and when a young lady entered a white car, I remembered the day I mistook Lisa as my uber driver. I shook my head while smiling as I remember how I talk shits about her not knowing she's hearing everything I say. That's embarrassing. Not a first impression I foresee.
Then, the cars stopped moving when it's red light. A white guy who's sitting on the passenger seat winked at me while plastering his ugly smirk. I looked away instantly as I groaned in disgust.
I prefer boys ever since, but when I met Lisa, I'm not sure about it anymore. I saw incredible women and adore them every time, but Lisa makes me feel things I couldn't describe which should stop before it gets too deep.
"Jennie."
I was snapped out of my thoughts when a person who's standing beside me called my attention.
I looked at her with a small smile but faded away instantly when I found who it is.
"What are you doing here?"
I asked with a frown but she's beaming at me with coffee in her hand. She then sat down on the couch in front of me and put her coffee on the table.
Not the person I'm looking forward to seeing today.
"I passed by to buy coffee. I never thought I'd see you here."
Lisa smiled and took a sip on her coffee.
"Where's Jisoo?"
She asked leaving me off guard. I shifted on my seat uncomfortably and cleared my throat.
"She-- uhm-- she already went home."
I quickly picked up my caramel macchiato taking a sip on it trying not to catch her gaze.
"I see. Can we hang out now?"
She asked gaining my attention, her eyes screaming hope.
"I-- uhh-- I actually need to go home."
I said as I picked up my purse and stood up, but she stopped me by grabbing my wrist.
"Are you perhaps ignoring me?"
"Of course not."
I answered biting my lip without looking at her. Lying to her comes out natural now.
