Karl Urban x Reader

Never in a million years did you ever think you'd be on the set of The Boys. In the first season, you had a quick walk on, but the viewer reception for you was so high, they asked you to come back as a recurring character in season two.

You love hanging out with everyone in the cast. You think they're just a great group of people. Especially Karl. He's been a really great friend to you.

Karl watches you talk with Erin as his leg bounces up and down. You wrap your finger around a loose coil in your hair as the two of you laugh at her joke.

"Why don't you just go over there?" Laz suggests.

"Nope. Erin's there."

"You need to get over that." Jack says. "We all know she's really nice."

"I know that. Her being nice isn't the problem."

"What's going on over here?" Anthony comes over in his Homelander costume.

"Karl is afraid to ask Y/N out." Laz answers.

"Oh." Karl's head snaps in Anthony's direction.

"Why'd you say it like that?"

"Say it like what?" Anthony asks unsure.

"Like I don't have a chance or something."

"Don't mind him." Laz waves him off. "He's just nervous." He looks back at you.

"Why is he so nervous?"

"Have you looked at her lately?" Karl says with a scoff. "She's gorgeous. And that smile... her laugh... and the way she is with my sons. All she did was talk to my boys on the phone a couple times and they're already trying to get her to come to New Zealand." The guys look at Karl swoon about you from a distance. You leave your spot and turn towards the group. "Shh! She's coming."

"Did he just shush us?" Jack asks. You walk over to the guys, who are near the trash can and throw your cup out.

"Hi guys." They greet you. "Hey Karl."

"Yeah—uh—what's—hi Y/N." You chuckle lightly to his word fumble and go back to Erin.

"Smooth. Real smooth." Anthony says, nodding his head.

"Shut up."

"Look, you need to grow up, go over there and ask her out." Laz says.

"The worst that could happen is that she says no." Jack says.

"And then it's completely awkward for the rest of filming." Karl says. "I don't want that to happen."

"So don't do it then." Anthony says.

"But I want to." He whines. The guys roll their eyes.

"Grow up and grow a pair." Laz says. "You're Karl Urban goddamn it. You were in Lord of the Rings and Thor."

"But—"

"He's right." Jack says. "There's no way she'll turn you down."

"But—"

"No buts." Laz cuts him off. "Go over there now." Karl takes a deep breath and walks over to you.

"Hey Y/N—"

"Alright everyone! Back to the set!" Karl curses to himself.

"Did you have something you wanted to say?" You ask him.

"Nope. Nothing." You furrow your eyebrows.

"Are you sure?" He nods. "Ok. See you on set." You walk away.

"Fuck."

Later that day

"Ok. Deep breaths Karl. You can do this. It's now or never. Laz is right. You're Karl Urban. Not some high school boy with a stupid little crush." Karl approaches you and clears his throat. "Y/N." You turn around and smile.

"Great scene."

"Thanks. Listen I was um wondering if you would like to um g—get dinner with me. Tonight." You smile.

"So that's why you've been staring at me like a creep for the past couple of days."

"What? I—I wasn't staring." You raise your eyebrow. "I was gazing."

"You were nervous. Weren't you?" He looks away. "What do you have to be nervous about?"

"You. You make me nervous." Karl watches your eyes twinkle.

"Well stop it. You have no reason to be nervous around me. I'm just a plain Jane." He scoffs.

"Plain Jane? No. Absolutely not. You're much more than that. You are the most amazing woman I've ever met. You're funny and beautiful and—and I've said too much and I'm scaring you."

"You're not scaring me Karl. I think it's sweet. I would love to go to dinner with you tonight." Karl breaks into a smile.

"Great! Um I'll see you tonight then." He backs up.

"Watch out for the—"

"Fuck! Ouch." He bumped into the corner of a table. "I'm ok." He rubs his leg. "All good." He throws up a thumbs up and you return the gesture with a smile.

"Good God he's such a dork." You say to yourself.
