I open up my garage door in a rush, slamming my helmet onto one of my desks and unfolding my short step-ladder. I was running on high adrenaline and rage. But who could blame me?
The overwhelming shock of finding out Professor Callaghan was behind it all and the betrayal of my friends actually letting him get away isn't the easiest thing to take in. I climb up the ladder so I can reach Baymax's head and take off his helmet, climbing back down to hopefully reprogram the scanner and get it working again. All the while, Baymax just silently stared at the back of my head. It almost felt like he was looking down on me.
"Your blood pressure is elevated. You appear to be distressed," Baymax states after having scanned me again. It was getting annoying.
"I'm fine," I coldly answer, taking Baymax's helmet after fixing it and squeezing his head back inside of it. "There. Is—Is it working?" I ask with an irritated tone.
Baymax takes a moment to process before responding, "My sensor is operational."
I nod curtly. "Good. Then let's get—"
I tap Baymax's access port, but it doesn't open up, confusing me. "What?"
I try to tap it harder, but it still doesn't open.
"Are you going to remove my healthcare chip?" Baymax questions.
I roll my eyes from his stupid question. "Yes!"
I keep pressing my fingers down harder and harder, but Baymax wasn't going to budge. Why isn't it opening? Is Baymax actually keeping it locked?
"Open!" I order to no avail.
"My purpose is to heal the sick and injured," Baymax states.
I try to get a hold, but his chest plate is in the way. Why isn't he obeying me? He's just some machine. Why isn't he complying?
"Baymax, open your access port," I order again, my look sharpening on Baymax, who still refused.
"Do you want me to terminate Professor Callaghan?" He asks me.
I didn't have time to answer his questions. Callaghan is still out there.
I just want to ...
I just want to ...
"Just open!" I shout, banging my fist on his armor.
When that doesn't work, I decide to take off his chest plate. Maybe it's getting in the way. I continued to tap and pull on the access port. It still wouldn't open.
"Will terminating Professor Callaghan improve your emotional state?"
What is it with these questions?
"Yes! I—No! I-I don't know! Open your access—"
"Is this what Tadashi wanted?"
"It doesn't matter!" I yell, trying to forcefully open the access port, pulling with all my might.
Why isn't he listening to me? Why is he bringing up Tadashi now? I just need to take down Callaghan. Right?
"Tadashi programmed me to aid and—"
"Tadashi's gone!" I yell, slamming my fists on Baymax.
I feel my anger wash away and my shoulders slump. All of my bottled up feelings come out all at once. Sadness, regret, acceptance. I don't even remember if I ever cried at Tadashi's funeral. That numb feeling had gone away when the tears started to fall. I kept my head down as an attempt to hide my expression.
