Ava knocks on the door of the physician's door. Merlin and the knights left this morning. Not long after he had to hold her hair up while she threw up her breakfast. He was refusing to leave until she promised she would go to see Gaius. The older man opens the door, slightly shocked to see her there.
"Are you alright?" he asks.
"Actually I wanted to just look at the books to see what I may have."
"It may be best if you tell me instead looking."
"That would make sense."
He lets her in and she takes a seat. He sits on the other side of the table.
"So what would be the issue?"
"I think it may be some small illness. The past couple mornings, I end up throwing every morning. Close to passing out. Yet Merlin says I don't feel like I'm running a fever. So at first I thought it was bad food. But it is repeating which could be a sickness."
"And this is why I think it is important not to diagnose yourself," Gaius chuckles. He gets up and looks through some books as she looks at what he is currently working on. He faces her. "I have a few ideas, but I need you to completely honest."
"Okay."
"Have you slept with Merlin?"
Her face starts burning at that thought.
"I mean he does basically live in my chambers."
He nods his head, before opening a book to a spell.
"This may give you your answer."
She reads it over, her head spinning at what it is implying. She places her hands on her stomach muttering the words. Sure enough, a small bit of warmth builds, spreading across her hands with a soft glow. Shock fills her as she stands up. Her breathing increases as she freaks out.
"The one time we do anything for ourselves," she cries out.
"About when would this have been?" Gaius asks. She lets out a sigh, leaning against the table some.
"The night we got engaged. We drank some and well-"
"It happened. I am disappointed in you, but there is nothing we can do."
Her breathing intensifies as she starts to panic. More thoughts bubble to the surface on the idea of her and Merlin having a kid already.
"But if Arthur finds out, God knows what he'll do."
"You two are to be married any way. Just have the wedding sooner than later."
She nods her head, trying to wrap her mind around the idea. Gaius helps her calm down some. He has her sits down and hands her a glass of water. She quickly downs it before setting the cup on the table. Maybe it is for the best. Their descendant already has a set destiny if her visions have been correct. She glances at the ring on her hand. A soft chuckle escapes her lips.
"The iron maybe a good decision of Merlin's end."
"Why is that?"
"Iron blocks the flow of magic. There is a chance, considering it is the child of me and Merlin, that he or she can be powerful."
"And hiding it would be harder. He actually made a smart decision."
She places her head in her hands, thinking about the fact this happened. The two were just in the moment, not fully thinking about what may happen. She should have known better. But at least it is with Merlin and not some man she don't care for. Oh, and there is still a threat of Morgana so she has that to worry about. She shouldn't be too surprised that this happened. There was the vision of their descendant.
"We'll discuss this more when Merlin comes back," the physician promises. "I have patients to go visit. But please, get some rest. You are going to have to be more careful now that you are carrying another life."
She nods her head in agreement. Let's see how long that will last. The princess leaves him before trying to sneak up to her chambers. Which is easier since several people have come down with sweating sickness. Also part of the knights are gone right now. She picks up a book and just reads by the window. Might as well entertain herself while she stays in here. Also she wouldn't mind a small distraction as is.
